Sorry swifty been busy.i was just thinking back years ago for instance in the 90s a supervisor asked me in texaco as it was then to do a hanger around a vessel and he was explaining how he di it and know for a fact he was petrified of heights and another wanted me to work in 3ft of mud

Nowadays they would just tell you to do it to the drawing and the RAMS.
I would imagine 99% of Supervisors, CMs and Managers will manage at least one job that they have no experience of actually erecting themselves.

The 3 foot of mud rings a bell with me. A few years back we were working on the local canal doing a couple of bridges which were straight forward affairs but were tidal. The contractor asked me if I would scaffold on the bank in the basin, but when I went to check it out I sank up to my knees and the boys had to pull me out. I politely refused the job so one of the big boys came down and just battered standards down into the muck and built the job as normal. Probably just as well there was so much muck about as one of them fell trying to sheet the roof in.
