X2 Part 2 Scaffolders

Think you'll find most construction jobs around that figure, its not great, but what do you do ?

Sid mate I know exactly what is going on out there. Got made redundant myself November 08 3 kids to feed, mortage to pay, times when we was on beans on toast. The reason I got made redundant is the firm couldn't pay it's tax bill. The bosses still managed to pay for a new car for themselves and one had his driveway redone.
Couldn't find the work at any other firm had to go on agency labouring shifting asbestos sh1te for minimum wage. Yes there WAS a recession but we hit growth this year. Not knocking the genuine agency firms either but when people try to justify paying SH1T money by still claiming times a hard BULLSH1T!

sorry to say this chaps but i think you are being a bit unfair to ford, the days of £18 to £25 an hour on most jobs in country have gone simple as that, yeah you will still get blue book and the odd good job come along and yes your shutdowns will offer a few of you jobs , but from what ive seen and heard the money just aint about , look at connaught one of many companies big or small who hav bit the dust because they didnt cut costs enough or quick enough.

£12 an hour on cis is what £9-60 after tax is not a bad job for a local lad with little travel an no costs in my opinion at the current climate keep things ticking over till better times come again. :wondering:

I went to that job its for IBN and its full of pricks and the money is **** why do us scaffs up north get the **** deal on rates its getting me realy psssed off, the money should be the same by the time u hv driven to and from mani your doing a 12 hr shift for 90 pound what a load ov ****.

these wages are for 18 to 20 year olds liveing at mums not for grown men with kids and morgages.bloody hell you can get 7 pound stacking shelfs at tescos.

What gets me is that half the time the agencies are asking for more than basic scaffs or advance they want asbestos trained, PTS trained, safety passport, confined space trained, or besc trained and then wont pay the money unless a blue book site. If you had all these tickets with a company you would 9 out 10 times still be with this company. why should they supply very skilled labour to companies that have had no financial outlay for the tickets they require for peanuts. When talking about blue book why not the governing body of our industry whoever that is set the rate across the board a national rate of ex amount for a part 1, part 2 and advanced, doesnt matter who you were, where you were or what work you did, whether industrial, offshore, streetworking its all paid as the same rate according to grade. There would be no undercutting of the men doing the work wages. companies and agencies would have to factor there own profit margins in to reflect this.

Doesn't matter what u all say, think or call agency's there still gonna do it. Y?
*because there's scaffs out there that will work for "peanuts".
Y?
*because they are in that much debt they have to.
i personally agree with u all, i wouldnt, but i know from a few of my m8's that have done in the past because they had 2.
so you all can rant, argue, moan but end of the day will this solve anything? NO WILL IT F**K.
theres always people in a hell of a lot worse situation than us.
AM I RIGHT OR AM I WRONG???

Yes your right mate. I'm glad I don't have to apply for that job but it doesn't stop me gettin pissed off and as you clearly state there is lads who will work for that money why? because they are desperate. That is why Forde Recruitment is gettin the backlash he has got because he is taking advantage of desperate people.

your proud that you have filled your vacancey with a derisory wage, hope it wasnt any forum members thats all i can say.there is a lesson to all scaffs here to be heeded,an employer openly on gloating that they getting away with paying way under what your worth, much more perusal must be taken when allowing job snips on the forum.

totally agree pal, forde are a **** company, pay peanuts you get monkeys!!!!!!

I think some people are missing the point of the original argument, forde construction are the ones taking the piss, the fact that lads are gonna work for 12 quid an hour is inevitable with the whole economic climate at the moment, i had to do it last nov, was on a long un a day and getting knocked every other day tenner here and there cos they knew they could as there was no other work about. 100 a day took the piss, but 80 some days in the snow was downright fuc.king sacriledge
