Done a lot for Taylor Wimpey and always tie throught the window. If they need to put the window in before the scaffold comes down, then it's usually a day working with the window fitters altering the ties. Just take the tie tube off to let them put the frame in and then replace the tie. The glass is left out.
While I agree a square isn't going anywhere, a lot of new build is now in blocks of 4 or more, so ties are definitely required.
