Is it just me or is fixing M16 Anchors & Rings the hardest part of the job?
Admittedly I usually try the mortar before going straight into the stone but there a pain in the @rse!

What's the best alternative?
 
Try the Hilti HUS self tapping bolt, similar to the Excalibur, been using them for many years very good anchor.
Hilti have just brought out a new HUS which is supposed to be much better and have more reuses than the old one.
 
14mm Apollo nylon plug with the 25mm ring bolt ,
you won't beat them in soft brick work.
We do quite a lot of temporary roofs and the hilti anchors always worried me
But with these nylon plugs I have 100% confidence
And have changed all our ties over to them this past year .
