What is happening to all the scaffs

Hello boys , what is happening with all the scaffs in this day and age , Companies like Hertel and Cape think they can do what they want to us now i.e paying off out of turn and also bully boy tactics , well it is about time we all stood together as 1 and stopped them doing this and stop being frightened about your jobs , Teesside is getting really bad for this and needs stopping immediately
 
i am glad that companies are using the matrix system so that the dodging scaffs who normally hide behind length of service can finally be disposed of.

might not be a popular answer but it is an honest one.

Matrix is a ******* fix

Well mate let me tell you this , when a company uses a matrix system you are allowed to see your own but nobody elses by law , well i was told i was finished on the matrix and when i asked to look at it i was escorted off the site and i am now pursuing this by going to the employement tribunal, what i have told the unions is that some companies dont mind what they have to pay lads out as long as they get them offsite and this should be ******* stopped straight away because it is still stopping the individual from working and earning
 
sorry to hear that but i did say it wouldnt be a popular answer.
its never nice to hear about people gettin paid off at this time of year.
but cape and hertel didnt make the law only using it to theyre advantage.

how long had you been there ??
 
I had been with them 4 months but also wanted to keep other advanced scaffs who started after me but had only been advanced for 3 month or so when i have been advanced for over 15 years , its all because i opened my mouth and the manager did not like this but i hate anyone getting ripped off , this is now the 3rd time i will have been compensated with a few grand of the ***** ha ha , but when i see the manager out the little **** will be getting the back off my hand
 
4 months wont get you a pay out under any circumstances especially from cape or hertels.
so what did you say or do to get them upset.

the matrix system has its good points in that service can be overruled in the case of the hard worker,but when attitude to supewrvision is added then it falls apart again.you will never get a happy medium but if your good enough you will always work if your a pain in the arse to the management or not

So they point score on your time keeping, what ticket you have, you are still fucked if your face dont fit.

I also agree about the Matrix System being a load of shiit.
I was laid off via the Matrix System on the LNG Tanks - Isle of Grain and was told that i was:

10/10 for Attendance.
5/10 for Ability.
5/10 for Knowledge.

Now not sounding arrogant here, but how the **** can they grade me at 5/10 for Ability and Knowledge, when i was doing Hangers and big beamed Truss-outs over 250ft up on the tanks and had 'so-called' Chargehands who GOT 10/10 for everything Labouring for me, as they were too shiit-scared to get out and do the work and they didnt have a clue what they was doing anyway???

Some of the blokes who stayed were f.ucking useless, but guess what?
They were all either old friends of the gaffers or related to them, in some way.

Every job i go on, im either surrounded by useless c.unts or grasses and IM the first one out the door, because i wont lick arse and i speak up, if something is wrong of unfair. :suspicious:

Its a great way for us to get a say.
 
You will never beat the nepitism in scaffolding bud cape is full of thick bstards who keep there jobs cause of uncle daddy
 
Sorry to hear your problem its allways the case the big firm sh!tting on the hard working man, w@nkers the lot, but what is this matrix system I haven't come across it or heard of it

Dont take it to heart Jason there are lots of guys who turn up every day but dont know much or have much practical ability. You will get that as you gain more experience.
I have to use a similar thing to the matrix system here but to be honest i just work it so i can get rid of the bone idle useless f**kers first.
 
Matrix aint much better mate.
It can be and is (probably often) rigged so the person controlling it keeps his mates and f.ucks everyone else off.

the matrix system was brought in to ensure compliance with discrimination rules.

but it was a god send for every contracting company in the country. Basically when there is a redundancy you cant use lilo as it was known, because this is age discrimination against a youngster who isnt old enough to have the 20 years service that an older guy might have.
so you have to judge the workforce on catagories other than length of service like, attitude to supervision, ability to work on own initiative, timekeeping, attendance, suitable qualifications, that can generally take out the intended targets easily enough. if not then change the criteria until it does.
 
cheers lads im being judged on this f*kcing matrix system next week and what you are all saying im fooked , im not a lick ass i will speak my mind and often argue with supervisers that used to be my labourers , jason that last statement is spot on my manager is trying to get rid of me and my mate and that come from the superviser. it doesnt matter about experience or knowlege its if your face fits .
 
Yes mate, 100% agree.

You can be the greatest Scaffolder.
You can be the best timekeeper.
You can be the tidiest worker.
You can be the nicest guy.
You can be the most reliable bloke.

If your face dont fit = Your f.ucked.
Its painfully unfair, but also painfully true.

The matrix system is a good concept that should be able to route the long term deadwood out... but unfortunatly is open & prone to abuse by the companies and supervisors who do the assessments..you are ok if you can count on good old NEPOTISM or your face fits...:p

however you have got a good case for unfair dismissal if the company do not play by the rules and engage with the employee through consultation and keeping it all above board, I got a pay out 3 years ago because there was no consultation;)
 
got fecked off myself by the matrix,i knew it and they knew it especially when the appeal went in.
maybe had something to do with calling a meeting regarding the LOR AND STAYTHORPE BRITISH JOBS STRIKE,which sebsequently lead to a walk out.
i would do it again tomorrow without any hesitation plenty more bridges out there to burn eh
