Van Thiel Fittings

No locking device and yes anybody with hammer cud open them but u do hav the same probs with system scaffolding

Derry scaff

Aye, same as the system, however, knock out a wedge on a system scaffold and the ledger or transom will stay in the node point…knock out the wedge retaining the standard and its a collapse…

What do you use for singles ???

Garry...

@ HSWT

Aye, tranniez fixed to the standards, but, what about the intermediate transom fixed to the ledgers ???, are they on the same plane ???…

Howz OZ treating you Bro ???

Gar...

Hi Garry
Just use doubles on ledger as singles. We use the transom with welded fitting on it which leave a tidy job.

@ HSWT

Big thing happnin in Oz eh and good you got the Family settled with you on this one, makes a big difference eh…

Regarding Boards: Suits would have to replace Standard Board with a more robust System type board ???

@ Derryscaff…

Have you got any pics you could post ???

I am warming to the Vanz, but, will proceed with caution, they have a few good attributes that steal a march on the sh!t of fittings that are used at the moment ( pressed steel ), they could out live pressed steal by a country mile and thats a fact, for me, its just that wedge on the Standard still trying to mitigate by HASOP, any possible movement of the wedge when in situ which may reduce the frictional stress.

I did hav photos on laptop which is broke must get them transferred. They r a good fitting but would still keep stock of traditional as well. We never had one slip and vibration doesn't seem to effect them. U hav to open them completely to get them to move as they grip the tube even when just hand closed so slippage isn't a worry most of the time. U need to make sure they r square when erecting as they r hard to adjust on tube but u Wud get the knack quickly. As said earlier Wudnt b confident for hangers but I'm sure they Wud work well

@ Derryscaff

Thanks for the information stream…

The Knack : method of application, I would think that in-house training would cover Manufacturers Method of Installation eh ???.

Sounding like a good piece of Kit on the right Structure and Environment…Noth Sea Clients are hard to please…especially, H& S Criteria…

Thanks to all, comments much appreciated lads

Happyhugenoet .... i just recieved this email from supplier so i'm not sure i catch your drift re EN74 standards and BS sucking it up ?? What do you mean exactly ?? Do you have verification that they have been EN tested as the below states that they have not.

The wedge clamps have not been tested to EN74. They have been tested to Canadian code CSA 269.2, as this is the only market where we have been using them to-date.

I hope this helps.

All the best,
Peter

Hi Joe…

Perhaps an informal approach to prospective Clients, sound them out, see if it would conform with their preferred List of Scaffold Couplers and Scaffold Procedures and Systems…could save a lot of time…

@ HSWT…

Im warming to the Vanz, good quality steel construction, and ease of use once one has mastered the KNACK of application…

Perhaps, it will all come down to fiscal considerations…large quantities would be required to replace existing Stocks of Traditional Scaff Component and Standard Scaff Boards…just an after thought, would the Scaff Designers have to create new programs to accommodate the Vanz spec, i.e., standard spacings for boards ???

Aye, cut the requirement for Aberdeen tranniez ( Millziz and Set ), suppose you could remove the requirement for Bracing if you use the Van Bones ???.

Garry….

JoeScaff the vans are used extensively in the Dutch Sector and as such i presumed they would meet the EN standards as per Traditional British Fittinngs.
If they dont reach the European Standards then thats your argument for knocking them back
best of luck Joe ;)
