System?

Hahahahahahaha...........Yellow Peril

I would rather go back to wooden poles and wire bonds than use that!

But it's all Horses for Courses....use what you can make money with :suspicious:

Just remember scaffom rux launching legal action action last year with there statement that you could mix there product with Layher. Once they realised that writ was going to court they backed down very fastly and ran away!
Just look at the kielder roof!

I followed that with interest, and whilst they were made to look fairly foolish they are not the only ones who have made statements about mixing. I have never mixed and never will no matter what the certificates say, they were just the only ones to come up with this trade in deal. They are missing a couple of crucial components as well as far as I can tell at the moment but shouldn't be too far behind. Clients don't really care what goes round their job as long as it's safe and the job gets done. They do care about price and as I said I am just pricing up options, didn't say I was doing anything about it, there are lots of other options to look at.

I wasnt slagging kwikstage because i dint need to
i was meaning the stuff you have been offered the point is no matter what system its all the same
straight runs all day long, but some of the components are fecking heavy and you cant slide the gear through your hands;)

I must admit, handling they standards doesn't look like fun off the back of a truck. I suppose everything will just have to be craned onto the site, maybe get rid of the 7.5 tonner all together.

Even the ledgers and trannies take ages to get in the ends bend very easily, this being said mr kwikstage himself proberly reading this thread in his private jet on the way to the Maldives laughing his head off.... W@nker lol

What, the ends bend easily, WTF is all that about, I thought it was meant to be strong?

The ends that sit in the standards because they get jammed and stuck more often than not you have to bend them out if you know what I mean mate, sorry describing part of the brain shut down, price work kicking in me thinks lol

You need a 2ft butt as a tw*ting iron or a brickies lump hammer:notrust:

Maybe I should hire some see how we get on.

Be aware... Ringscaff are atrocious. They'll tell you they stock a million pounds of equipment in their yard but will have nowhere near that in stock. We compared the cost between Layher and Ringscaff and there was hardly anything in it. We've invested £500k on Layher and haven't looked back. Best system on the market without fail.

Layher is rapid and simple as you want it to be you can return it few way 4ft bay in each corner , punch up of bottom ledger leaving rest on ledgers out, this method you wil din that you will mostly have a bit ov oversail on the return so t&f needed to fill in or using the loading bay frams as the inside ledger and come off with you boards and out side ledger you can get retun pin half disks that sit on ledgers but never used them. The pans are the only option dosent quite fit 5 boards and it only takes 3 decks. I would say get the u transom rather than the 0 with board retainers ties the boards down better than safelinx ;) great of when on ahanger under the docks and high winds

Have a look at your current client base, the work you are doing now determine what labour cost savings you could make.

Also have a look at what "new" work you could profitable quote for using the system.

As an Old School scaffolder I will always prefer tube & fittings. It was what I was taught from the 1960,s. Yes you can erect ANY job with T & F, but can you make a profit. especially in todays market. The first "system" I ever used was the "Yellow Peril", Oh how we did laugh at this bag of sh*t. It is still been used to this day though. The new systems are well thought out, with designed components that are proven by the manufacturer.

Personally I would make the jump to System, but keeping a stock of T & F and a squad of specialist T & F scaffolders, and charge a premium rate for the "interesting" little jobs that may come your way,

Regards

Magic tip Dicanio, thanks for that. Nice to hear it can be done. What did you do with your existing stock?

An old school scaffolder translates in the young teams eye as dinosaur. The boys already get on at me for always going for the tube and fit for jobs as they swear blind they could do just as good a job with system. I hate the way they tend to build even a simple square as 4 separate elevations joined with lapped boards, so multi elevation jobs are just going to look a mess. That been said, they tell me the pen is mightier than the spanner and with proper planning and measuring it can all be done quite easily. I just feel, nobody will pay premium rate for tube and fit if you can get system round it with big open runs with no brace and no design requirement. Even small domestic chimney heads, we have 4 to do on Thursday, and there is hardly any roof to hit your ledgers on, a wee cantilevered system tower would be mint.

I think you need help Mate.....

The Pen is fantastic - as is the spanner - but Rigger and I are not stupid.....really :cheesy:

You tell your boys how you want it done.... and they better do it right....or you jab the Fuuking Pen in their eye and tell them you are getting Charlie to come and show them what it would be like to Fuuk with Old School........

haha, hope they read that one Charlie.

AOM Mate You are one of the most sensible I have seen on here,

I really enjoy when I come on (not much for a while) and talk to blokes like you.

I have been in this game in all areas for about a hundred years, and the same issues always arise......

If Fergie was a Scaffold Manager instead of Man Utd....what would he say.....??

I rest my case

Don't get me wrong Charlie, I might not have Fergies cash but I do share some traits with the man. I have mellowed a lot over the past couple of years as I realise the world won't stop turning if this job is not completed tonight but it's still my way or the highway.

Don't Mellow.......you will die anyway......

Brilliant Charlie, I will remember that.
