Spalding 2011 Outage.

i remember years ago i applied for a job at methil rgc yard, (some memory) anyway the only way i got the job was to say i was local. 2 weeks later informed the union man on site i had moved back to my home address got the dig money no problem, those were the days when the unions backed you and werent in the pockets of the companies, a lot has changed since then, whether its right or wrong some guys have mouths to feed and bills to pay so will do whatever is required, unfortunately there is nowhere to turn now for back up and no one to back them up, that is the sad state of this country and it will take a massive change in employment law before it changes, chest cleared now g/l
 
No mate if all of us stuck together there wouldn't be taking dig money away from us.Its understandable taking on local lads 1st but not to take the dig money away from traveling men.If that is the case they should take anyone on when the jobs starts off.Regarding the pricks that travel as local men are nothing but the LOWEST OF THE LOW.Whilst I'm on with it Unions are for lazy bar stewards.Seen men on powerstations that's been there for years and wonder how,its because there that far up the bosses arse you can see there riggers hanging out.
 
are these " Locals " obliged to PAY Council Tax !, perhaps the Local Council Tax Man would like a quiet word...:eek:
 
cant realy add anymore to what has been said till the day i die ill never agree with any argument that trys to defend a traveling man going local to obtain employment,but if thats the perogative these guys have then so be it.as for the unions well we had 13years of a labour goverment(new labour)and in all that time they never repealed ANY of the anti union laws imposed by thatcher,so i dont think under this bunch of quasi-aristocrats were going to see any new ground changing union laws.
 
I was working a shut down at St Fergus last Summer---got my full lodge money no Problem---HOWEVER, I dont know how long that will last given the rot setting in---Iv been a Union Man since Humphry's and Glasgow Built the Total Gas Terminal in 70's, CEU, AUEEWU,OILC, UNITE, hit the cobbles Offshore in the 80's ect, ect, BUT, Iv never seen such a splintering of Men as in recent times---Dog eat Dog---it's just not right Boys :cry: end of
