Hi to all fellow scaffs. I'm on a temporary roof job where the client is having it shrink wrapped, normal tin lid. The shrink wrap firm are asking for ledgers on clips at 3m intervals on the outside,is this normal practise?

That's the best way mate. It will stop the wrap getting holes in it. There will be a little bit of play in the sheeting and it stops any sharp edges wearing it out though friction.

Depends on the company doin the wrapping & how tidy u want it go look .instead of the additional ledgers we just made strips of hessian from ols sacks & placed around the fittings..did the trick - its been up nearly 16wks & all through that bad wind at xmas & its got no holes in- ask the wrappers to leave you a role of tape though just incase u need any minor repairs

There is a way to get round this problem bass. Firstly shrink wrap was predominantly designed for system scaffolding ( no bolts to puncture through). Secondly, experienced wrappers would tape the bolts. Then put tape adjacent on the sheeting. Stops the bolt coming through. But, clips on ledgers I would say no to. They are not load bearing to hold the sheeting if the wind gets up.
You wouldnt hang mongole flex on ledgers with clips would you??? Same principle bass.

Hope this helps.

Hi, we would normally fix every six meter drop however this may change for the type of job, the ledgers do not have to be fixed on the outside but this can make the finish look better.
