Hi All, I am currently developing a web portal/app to connect scaffolders to businesses for regular/ ad-hoc work. Looking for suggested features or ideas from both a scaffolder and a business perspective. All help is much appreciated.

Hi @hodpy63

Here are some suggestions from both a scaffolder and business perspective:

For Scaffolders:
  • Detailed profiles: Allow scaffolders to showcase their experience, qualifications, certifications, specializations (e.g., industrial, residential), and references.
  • Availability calendar: Enable flexible scheduling by indicating preferred workdays, hours, and minimum lead time.
  • Rate setting: Let scaffolders set their own hourly or project rates.
  • Job search filters: Facilitate efficient job discovery by filtering based on location, project type, size, duration, pay rate, and other relevant criteria.
  • Direct communication: Provide secure in-app chat or messaging to connect with businesses and discuss job details.
  • Review and rating system: Allow scaffolders to review businesses and vice versa, building trust and transparency.
  • Payment processing: Integrate a secure payment system for seamless invoice management and timely payments.
  • Community features: Foster connections among scaffolders through forums, discussion boards, or mentorship programs.
  • Safety resources: Offer access to safety guidelines, training materials, and industry updates.
  • Insurance verification: Provide a way for businesses to verify scaffolders' insurance coverage.
For Business Users:
  • Comprehensive search: Enable searching for qualified scaffolders based on location, expertise, certifications, availability, and past reviews.
  • Project posting: Simplify project posting with clear descriptions, budget ranges, required skills, and deadlines.
  • Quote comparison: Allow businesses to compare quotes from multiple scaffolders side-by-side.
  • Secure messaging: Facilitate secure communication with potential scaffolders to discuss project details and negotiate rates.
  • Job management tools: Offer tools to track project progress, manage schedules, and communicate with scaffolders on-site.
  • Payment security: Ensure secure payment options for invoices and payroll.
  • Performance tracking: Enable tracking of scaffolder performance through feedback, ratings, and completion rates.
  • Compliance verification: Provide tools to verify scaffolders' certifications and insurance coverage.
  • Safety resources: Offer access to safety checklists, incident reporting tools, and best practices.
Additional Features:
  • Geolocation: Leverage location services to connect businesses with nearby scaffolders.
  • Push notifications: Alert users about new job opportunities, messages, and important updates.
  • Multilingual support: Cater to a wider audience by offering the platform in multiple languages.
  • Integrations: Integrate with third-party tools like accounting software, project management platforms, and safety databases.
Remember:
  • Prioritize user experience and interface design for a smooth and intuitive experience.
  • Ensure high security standards for user data and financial transactions.
  • Clearly communicate your value proposition to both sides of the platform.
  • Consider offering tiered subscription plans with different feature sets for different user needs.
I hope these suggestions give you a good starting point!
