Scaffolding Urban Myths

well each to there own ive always put standards on the outside some will agree some wont but ive been taught standards on the outside of the ledger but he hoo its a forum were all intitled to our opinions.

Same as u dico - was the way i was taught to

quite difficult to put your ledgers up on the outside I would think lol

Its just for basing out, my owld china, ledger back inside after that, nowt moves the Stds are set at your board and toe board configuration, so it is irrespective where your ledger is..........When kicking off/basing out, only measure your stds width C2C inside ledger nearest the facade, outside ledger left out, walk your stds in, then put your outside ledger in.

It all gets done the same allan. your only as good as your teacher.

the last job i was on were the standards were in the inside of the ledger it had already been set out and when we got to second lift they measured from out side ledger to the front standard so when lift was being boarded out the boards didnt fit why i was being sarcastic with have you got a saw  before anybody says yes you could spread the boards out and and single them but why bodge it simple answer dont put the fooking standards on the inside:laugh:

Even simpler SET THE JOB OUT PROPERLY!

Taken you a few days to come up with that 'credible' story dico

its just safer to walk the standards in and fix into position only way on street work.
(No old lady walking out the shop and hitting the standard thats lying up against the window reveal)

i dont understand why anyone would want to lift standards over or under the ledger or try leaning them against summit while trying to base out, when the obvious sensible easy smart option is to swap the ledger round for easiness.

I guess some scaffs can measure out any scaffold and some just struggle on:nuts:

some scaffs like to make the job harder than it is,

just to add when your basing out always consult the site manager/agent when throwing the base lift ledger on the outside as you will get the odd crackpot who will think the job will fall down with such an anomally, you know the"it aint done proper crew" just saves going back to change it although NO site manager\agent has ever asked me to do so.

well every body works different probably if i was to be taught the street way i would probably have done standards on the inside of the bottom lift 7,000 scaffolders on the forum and theres supposed to be 45,000 wonder how many other scaffolders put the standards on the inside of the ledger each to there own in 20 years on the industrial circuit i have not seen this unless somethings in the way you normally get to put a few sks along the line and as you go so when your errecting or strikeing your only left with the standards so theres no hard work involved in lifting under or over the ledger inless someone takes all the ties off which is done believe me. then when you hit the bottom lift you struggle like hell every body works different.

its not being lazy its not cutting corners its just being practical dont see why the holabaloo with this as practice its done country wide,we were all shown the conventional way(proper way lol) but good to see some of us can still think out of the box.

Dico I'm reading some of these comments now, not just yours might I add and I get the impression some people are starting to talk about putting the standards inside the OUTSIDE ledger and not standards inside INSIDE ledger. Is it just me that's noticed that?
