scaffolders required in and around portsmouth area to start mid january

DS with them rates I would say he as exhausted local labour and like you said set a target for men so they could get stuck in and as for the Romanians on the way bah humbug pk will soon fill his socks with sovereigns sounds like a classic case of under cut the price of work and try getting it done of broken backs yet again scc

90 a day up here is hard to swallow but down there it must be like swallowing a whole brick.

sorry boys but a local lad working minutes from home would probably snatch his hand off even at £90 but with travelling lads its a different matter.....
good luck with the venture hope you get the men you're looking for

I know up north it's not bad and would generate a lot of interest but I'd expect more down there as I thought the cost of living was higher or am i wrong?

I Know Some Advanced Scaffolders That Are Earning £90 A Day, So Good Luck Chaps Someone Will Need The Job.

the cost of living in Plymouth is not too bad about the same as sheffield
Not as bad as London
AND I know advanced scaffs working for £90 a day with overtime rate @ 1+2 and no travel
just have to be thankful for a job especially just after xmas

£90 a day!! hahahahahahahaha, do you pay digs by any chance?

point taken, i will revise the rates and maybe think about price work. all my work in the past is in the north west and i have only used local lads.

SSC he may be looking for local labour and not travelling men. Personally I would offer price work and at least give scaffolders a chance of earning a decent wage. I suppose with the Romanians on their way over £120 a day will soon drop to £30 a day and a tin of corned beef though :)
i could stretch to a loaf of bread to go with the corned beef?? ha ha

Firms like yours that are pushing rates to a stupid low getting away with paying peanuts down there it will be ok to pay peanuts up here, rich getting rich and working man getting shafted as usual, I for one think there should be a limit to how low you go 90 quid for a basic scaff is a total **** take pal instead of getting you 6 bedroom 3 bathroom house built and a lambo in both your garages you should sort your rates
i wish i could afford a 6 bed 3 bath house never mind the 2 lambo;s mate

not like that at all mate, but what you got to understand is that you have to give the best price available to stay in business. otherwise it wont only be me out of work, it will be the 20 other men that work for me up north. it has been an eye opener advertising on here. i will take on board and look at the rates but i can see me changing from day rate to price work on this particular site.

my thoughts exactly. glad somebody see's where i was coming from.

good look to you pk a lot of companies are still blaming the 2008 crash and want subbed contractors to do it for nothing and pricing is very aggressive I know that's why I got out of contracting I wish you all the best

If up norths ur normal stomping ground i understand how easy its to undervalue both the price of your job & he cost of local labour when pricing outside ur normal footprint - in hindsite u may off been better off posting n here a question aimd at what the local scaffs rates are in plymouth 1st & match it- spose u wouldnt of had such a slaggng so fast;)
