Maybe an ECITB type scheme would work out there?
Managers signing the scaffolders off at their respective grades.
 
That won't work most of the clients have interests in the 3rd party certifying companies so they would lose a lucrative income.
It also stops the big **** and Indian owned companies bringing men from the fields and saying they are scaffs. Now they bring men from the fields, send them on a short course done by the 3rd party comps who then say they are scaffs!!
 
while in Saudi i tryed in vain to deliver citb cisrs approved courses but was advised by CISRS that they only work with the British Based Companies that had the approval.I stated that the company i was working for was BRITISH BASED and also an SVQ/NVQ Training providor,alas to no avail.
I personally think it stank of everything that the SCCR had been trying to oppose.;)
 
I do think that courses that give students the relevant information are a good thing.
I am just making the point that in every country in the world attending a training course does not make a man a scaffolder it simply makes him a man that has attended a scaffolding course.
Too many people think these courses are the be all and end all. And the training centres are quite happy to go along with it.
Wonder what Simian, NETA and the others opinion is?

YOU CAN TEACH ANYONE TO WELD,LAY BRICKS,FIT PIPES ETC
BUT AND ITS A VERY BIG BUT YOU CANT TEACH SOMEONE TO WALK ON A 3 BOARD RUN WITH A 21 ON HIS SHOULDER 100 200 TEET IN THE AIR
OR TO SLIDE DOWN A DROPPER 200 FEET IN THE AIR AND WITH YOUR LEG WRAP AROUND THE DROPPPER PROCEED TO CATCH A FITTING THEM HANDLE A FECKING PADDY THAT TAKES BAWS and we do it so you cuunts can work safely
