Asked the same question Paddy and was told welly's are protection for concrete workers and in the event of sprain or fracture are easily cut off.
 
well what about foundry boots then,best boots for getting off in a hurry.plus built to withstand extreme heat and conditions.i wear them when i can.ankle,or boots ,they do the job.dont believe me,look them up.:D
 
nah shorts are so tight one gets tucked in,unless theyve just been emptied lol:toung:

I could only say Paddy....... cos the duty of beyond Reasonably Practicability... Concrete burns pose a more serious risk than sprained ankles???????????due to the nature of work????:idea:

Time trouble money you know all the pitfalls??? who would be a Safety Man:amazed::wondering:
 
Riggers are ok if you get a good fit, once they get old they start going loose round the ankle.. so get some new ones.. worn offshore in case you fall overboard.. easier to get off than lace ups..

Different trades different boots,nearly all management and saftey officers I know wear riggers, easy changing for getting in and out of cars quickly,
 
I've just ordered a new pair of Jalettes from work today.. great boots.....
 
Im not getting any amo here to send Mr safety packing. What do HSE say as regards to safety boots is it only that they need steel toes or does this ankle shiet come into it?
 
depends what job your on aswell, we have to have a steel midsole in the steelworks...

Steel toes is the main criteria woodsie, show me a regulation that says riggers cant be worn

We`re doing work for scotish power, putting up towers re-placing electical cables on residential houses however the electric supply has been switched prior to work.
The health n safety is ott but if i can come up with an expalnastion to why riggers are justified i wont have to bye new boots.
is it rediciluos or is it just me?
 
We had to stand on a monitor type thing to make sure the soles were anti static, depends what environment your working in.

Just every day houses with power switched off, riggers!! whats the problem?
 
Looks like one man from the hse woodsie, you can always phone the hse yourself mate.
 
there just not very good woodsie get some lace ups .i think the trip hazards are reduced when you have good fitting footwear.its not about the look.
