Question about transoms

A lot of principal contractors round our way russ are asking for designs, everything from independants to staircases.
Its how the industrys going.....soon you'll need to show a design in having a shiit

hope the design has wash your hands after:laugh:

It will be in the design risk assessment.

Design states that hands must be wiped on site managers face prior to washing, as they speak that much shiit it wont hurt.

Just had an advanced scaffolder start with us
When erecting bog standard independent scaffolds on site he reckons it is a load of crap fixing a transom next to every pair of standards -I have been doing this for last 20 years.
Thoughts anyone

Morning Goulda
you are correct in your thoughts that transoms had to be within 300mm of a standard (BS5973 13.3.2) This is still the case in TG20:08 10.3.2

I have been in the industry since June 1974 and this has always been the case. I remember the little green & yellow books issues by SGB in the 70's and again in 82 both state 300 mm. This is again confirmed in the CITB "A Guide To Practical Scaffolding" which states "never more than 300mm from each pair of standards"
regards
Alan
