small companies employ and pay trainees wages , supply ppe , etc etc until they finish apprenticeship, obviously the trainee hasnt been the most productive of workers during this time as he learns his trade, so finishes his apprenticeship then immediately jumps ship to a bigger company paying better money, as they do.
the grant recieved probably means the small company is actually on a loss as it barely covers travel and wages to all the college courses and stuff.
my question is this, where is the inncentive for more smaller companies to take more apprentices on, when they cant match other big companies wages to keep hold of their trainees.
maybe a lot more would employ more apprentices more often if they were getting more in return for two years of head aches an very little else
