Very simply, as I've posted on this forum previously. Why aren't the young scaffolding trainees taken through to the NVQ level 3 or advanced saffolder level as part of their training ( weather it's at 19 or 26 years old) if they gain the experience necessary to attain the grade. It's really got my back up this one. I recently got the schedule for the training course for one of my trainees and on it were the times and dates for the part one and two courses, there was also the schedule (as a trainee) for his part three course, but as the citb rep informed me he wont be eligible for the advanced course. So if he already knows this, why is it in the information pack to start with?. I've just paid around £1300 for one of the chaps to go on his advanced course at Bircham Newton, it's not so much the price of the course that gets my back up, but the fact that I think it should be part of the training programme from day one.Like I said at the start of my (very simply) it just stinks of (we'll train the young people of the industry to the best standard possible). Is what we get for our trainees really the best possible training?.
