funny things actually is people dont even know what the job is but assume that the size of the lorry affects the if you can hit the kpi and get top rate.

6 blokes are there already hitting kpi every week, been there 5 years with the same size lorry and amount of kit....the kpi is tailored around what they acheive...why think its wrong or a problem?

Yon told us the lorry size you retard and we have all been in the game long enough to know the job and to spot a chancer!!!
If I were you I'd give up now

Yeah might become a recruitment consultant lol

The guys a pri.ck.
Work went quiet 4-5 weeks ago so i rang him and said i could do weekends for him. Yeah yeah he said i can get you on a site in cheshire sat and suns. Still heard nothing from him. All smoke and no fire.. tosser.

Den thats ***** and you know full well it is. Rang you plenty of times and we have chatted about the site and who its for etc. what that a load of ***** pal! theres weekend work there you were told the rates and I made clear you can come and do it. I have rang your mobile plenty of times and you know the score, the works there simple fact. if you want it why you not rang and said you ready to start and which day it will be??? I am not a mind reader - you been nice as pie on phone to me why then talk **** about me?!

Dont know who you've been ringing gary but it aint been me, i've had no phone calks no texts to say theres work. Last time we spoke you said i cant get you on site that weekend, you'd ring me back within a couple of hours to let me know about the following w'end...phone call i dont think so. Why should i keep ringing you for work when its you that wants lads....
Keep your phone calls and keep your work...... typical agency as far as im concerned....
End of rant...

Its not professional of me to get into a swearing contest calling people names but the fact is its easy to run your mouth on a blog isnt it?..
I know the scaffold game plenty well i dont need to be able to build the stuff to be able to do my job, i been dealing with scaffolders for 13 years year in year out...i dont need to have a spanner in my hand to know that industry. You get paid to build it, i get paid to organise that...simple. The fact is the men who work there get hit target no trouble and run around on the same lorries day in day out. if they do it all the time without a problem how is it a rip off?
Calling me names when there are men there working for me who thank me every week, talk to me every day...get paid, get looked after...it makes me chuckle that some idiot who is probably unemployable anyway starts talking **** about me with no knowledge of me at all.

Fair enough, if I have rang wrong number then someone else has got voicemails asking you to get in touch. I am sorry about that its clearly made me look ignorant. I can only apologise for that but be fair anyone can make that mistake, ive wrote the number down wrong...hang me??? Look den the works there, i told you that you can do it. sorry i missed you on phone.

Haha the guy knows all about our job but no clue about the veh being 7.5t or what price work on the street is!!! Do one chancer

The reality is I don't need to know how the price work is done by them...its hourly pay...all I need to know is whether the clients told me you hit target, then I pay the wages. Simple.

As far as my lack of knowledge is concerned I find that amusing as I have been a branch manager for Cape and DSL for nearly a decade and for 3 years worked in the lifting industry, I trained scaffolders on-site for 8 years building temp roofs all over the uk, worked on the navy fleet teaching scaffs to erect rolling roofs 100mtres long on every major ship in the fleet pretty much......I have taught scaffs all over the uk how to do that..and some of my good mates own scaffold firms and scaffold manufacturers l help out with so i know virtually every product on the market and who makes or supplies it...

So I may not be a scaffolder myself but I have spent years working with some great ones so know exactly how to spot a good one....

and that my friend is all i need to do..

I can see where you're coming from.

It has to work 2 ways, or if an agency is involved (Who doesn't affect your wage) 3 ways.

What have you got in around Manchester paying your old rates £14.50s an£15s

no ive worked for them a few years ago for a week got totally riped off so Jacked ive got nothing in at the moment joel in Manchester

Its not Network Scaffolding or Butler Scaffolding...

Following the very heated debate over rip off kpis the position has now been filled with a good guy who left his current role to start for me.
End of his first week and hes very happy as far as he tells me...kids to feed and regular hours so he is on a winner..

While I appreciate all the comments (good, bad or ugly) I have now recruited enough men for the customers needs at this time.

I have more ongoing new build site work, £16ph adv, £14 part 2.
Manchester Area Ongoing Contract. Currently no immediate starts but expect more men to be called in over next 2 weeks. I have 4-5 contractors on those sites currently running for some time, men are happy and well looked after.

Also looking for men experienced in kwikstage (yes...sadly it still gets used!) for starts on site in Liverpool next week.

All of our roles are now STRICTLY subject to interviews being held as my clients are very tired of time wasters (you know who you are and you know why you are unemployable...)

If applicants are not prepared to turn up for a local interview then I cannot offer a start.

In November I will need 6 x Besc Gird carded scaffs for a short contract - Rates to be confirmed.
