I have been in the scaffolding industry for 30 years!!

25 years ago I was taking £1,500 a week home after tax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Know most guys struggle to get that a month.

I started the SCCR because I thought that the industry was going down hill for the working man.

It is very fast.

The SCCR needs your support. Contact us to find out more details at sccr@sy.com.

What did you have to do back then to earn that a week? Surely the rest of the squad weren't all getting that too?

i never got to the £1500 carry on but my eldest son (scaff) found four old payslips of mine dated 2001 with every one showing over a grand to pick up, he asked what i was doing? i said erecting a block of flats in sunderland,
i can also remember my 1st £1000 which was in 1997 in a liverpool shipyard, happy days.:D

join the SCCR, give ragscaff a chance

i just rejoined.............
as regards wages the prices on site and I'm guessing on street work just isn't there to make that much ............
i was earning grands on power stations 7 twelves and 8 weeks on price on a three storey block of flats on my own in cuplok but those days are just memories at the moment
in the south east i think its reasonable to expect 30 k and a van which is reasonable employed i think ? don't others

st fergus total site sf3b project 1991/2 cleared 900 1 week for staying back another hour.
the sccr has to be given a chance, scaffolders wages and scaffolders being flung into the working at height regs are issues that need to be addressed and the nasc are only too happy with the staus quo.the sccr have and will continue to be the force for change in our "TRADE"

On target price per job. So many hours split betwen the gang.

Normally two handad up to 6-7 lifts, temp roofs etc. Worked from 6.30 am till 6pm. 7 days a week some Sundays.

Three to four years ago taking £6-800 for a five day week. ****.

Know don't ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldent call our selves a trade at all a trade any 1 can pick up and have a go at with out disastrus results we are a specialist trade along with the likes of assy strippers not just and ten bob trade but a speacialist trade and we need to be reconised as this

the government is banging on about red tape and beurocracy in the work place killing british business.yet this fascist dictatorship that is the nasc only wants to bog down small scale scaffolding firms and all the industry in general with more shiitty regs.
as for price and target work when they introduce all this new crap that adds time to the job the price never changes.when we got the double handrail the price per metre never went up noy in glasgow anyway.now you have shorter bays a sway brace woiuld cover 100" foot now theres one every 4th bay.
get it sorted scaffs, dont come on here moaning and do nothing join the sccr and we can all do something together

+1 sccr

the game is fecked therees no fun in it nowadays too much h&s that doesnt really make you safer.the working at height is 1 load of shiit.
i have done allsorts of different courses regarding this crap and none of it really related to Scaffolders it was all for riggers abseillors sparks etc you are even taught that the hooking on to the back is not the correct way to use fall arrest.this needs to be addressed and the sccr are tryinbg to address these disasters which we have been forced into

on a course with a lad who has some training recently and he was told when climbing a ladder he should hook on and hook of when climbing the said ladder the instructor agree but said ti was a bit ott as he work to crnt rember the phrase but something along the lines of only do it if its an nassesity as it it practical

the working at height regs which leading players in the nasc push so much do not have to try and cover a days graft by abideing by the shiit.
these regs are for workers who may have to work at height, like a spark changing a light bulb.scaffolding is by its very nature height work with totally different situations regarding movement and spacial awareness.
this is all by the by the main topic is the sccr and the wages and conditions, which rag and others are working tirelessly for feck all to sort out

like av said to a few and not herd out back am up here and there nowt but a bif fek off power station with 1,000's o scaffs on few leaflets and cards in the locol supermarkets etc and flyer given to the lads but havent her nowt bakc of them i sugest it to eveyr scaff i see not only about the forum but about the sccr word is spreading marra

when i first got into scaffolding ,next to the chippies we were the higherst paid, i can remember some hodcarrier called superhod that used to earn over a grand aweek and drove a roller to work - around 1986 i was working price on housing sites and used to hit 1k most 5 days- and still be in the pub for 3 oclock, and we used to say if u cant earn it in 5 then get outta the game, but now with 3 reccestions and a load of h&s bull you'd have to go some to earn it in 7
with reguard to the sccr i think its a cracking idea but with so few members compared with guys on the forum then we aint got a chance of either the nasc or h&s taking us seriously so for fuuucks sake guys stop whining and put your cash where your mouths are and join up so we can unite againt it all and truely have our say
