offshore work??

i could beleive that,they are trying to get rid of a few long termers on medical grounds etc.
they are just trying to f**k the lads about so theres no real long term security THE NATURE OF THE BEAST I SUPPOSE in the north sea
 
About this offshore business from what i understand you clear about 2400 a month but how much of that would you spend on the rig if any, 20 quid a day, 100 a week??

Just trying to sus out wheather its worth bothering with, any replies appreciated.
 
you dont need to spend anything.
you only spend if you smoke, like sweets, or like doing a football coupon.
all food is supplied at meal times, eat as much as you like, also cakes and puddings etc.
 
Alright thanks for that mate, sounds like i`ll might be getting fatter than i already am. Hope theres a gym on there if get time to use it. So the avarage wage would be 1200 a week! is that correct mate?
 
yes m8, anything between 1000 and 1200 for 2 weeks and you usually get a rebate of about 200 on your dead week. wage might look like this -
week 1 - 350 - 2 days
week 2 - 1100 - 7 days
week 3 - 750 - 5 days
week 4 - 200 (tax rebate)

and there is a gym, and sauna, and computer room.
 
So if the job was 2 weeks on 2 weeks off you`d get 1100 a week then tax rebate 200= total of 2400 take home.!!
 
really thinking of knocking this offshore lark in the head.....just been downmaned from the judy (rig blast) after 1 trip after being promised 18 months work....this coming after being paid off from salamis after 1 trip down in the southern sector again after being promised a long run of work...still on the books rbg but dont know when or where my trip maybe.....steadily getting more fcuk off with it all
 
dont blame you im offshore myself but you never know the minute with the scumbags,then they have the cheek to think you will hang about for them when they cant even be arsed to answer a phone call:mad:
 
been trying for months to get offshore got my pt2 and bosiet/mist/nowegian suit etc.
hard work this..... hope ive not paid out close to 2 grand for nothing!!!!
 
I am in the same boat mate, its head wreckin but what can you do.
 
Wen is the best time to try and get work offshore is it worth it in the end

The government haven't helped by hitting the oil companys with huge tax increases, oil co's have spat the dummy out and shelved drilling programmes etc (not all of them mind) also cost of barrel/cube of oil/gas dictates when to have shutdowns that affect production etc (loss of revenue), and of course the usual, try to do the same jobs with less personnel, keep trying and don't give up m8 that next phone call could be you.
 
Ring them every tuesday and thursday without fail send cv mon, wed and fri. They'll get tht sick of you ya will get a start thats what worked for me and a load of lads i know ya gotta pester them.
 
Yeah thats the way to do it, but we are forgetting one thing here we are in a recession so it dont matter how much you pester them if there is no work they are not going to start you, 2010 was the same, i would say 2012 should be better but who knows, keep trying by all means and remember the cash is not what it used to be.
 
Now then i have just registered on here and Rig Blast seem to have all the work at the moment try them.
 
Don't worry Roye'l, you will be able to hide your dignity in the small single shower, just don't get caught ripping the head off it later.:embarrest:
