This month TI Protective Coatings has been awarded a place on the new Manchester Metrolink MRDL Painting Framework, awarded by infrastructure operator RATP DEV UK.

This appointment continues a long tradition of TI working upon the successful Metrolink network, stretching back to the company’s creation in the 1990’s. Last year we delivered the refurbishment of 4 structures under the Tranche 1 Framework; this year we have been awarded an initial batch of 7 structures in a contract totalling approximately £500,000.

Graham Moor, TI’s Managing Director and Estimator for this scheme said “We are absolutely delighted with the award of this contract, the continuation of work upon the Metrolink is vital to the success of our business and we’re pleased RATP DEV have given us the opportunity to demonstrate our expertise once again, it certainly helps to have a such a skilled and multi-discipline workforce just minutes from site”.

The award of the Metrolink contract has secured the jobs of at least 10 industrial painters and should we be successful on this phase of the works, with the release of further structures on the network scheduled for next year, expansion of the local team will be necessary.

To avoid disruption of service the majority of the works will be carried out at night, whilst trams are not running upon the infrastructure. The steelwork will be prepared and painted by ICATS certified staff under the watchful eye of our ICORR Paint Inspector/Supervisor.

Work is due to commence upon the 5th March with completion scheduled for the 3rd June 2012.

I worked for them for a few weeks, some good lads there. Gaffer not bad but do expect their pound of flesh. Same ol story, but if you look after them they will look after you. Hope it goes well.
