Ledgers & Handrail staggering

Where does it say that your not allowed to use long...I did hear a rumour that trad had cut them all down due to their concern over manual handling within their own risk analysis. ..however as far as I'm aware this is far from a common thing & I gotta be honest if a client wanted me to lose several thousand pounds worth of stock then they could either pay for the privilage of fcuk off & get another scaffold contractor

TG20:13 Chapter 6
"Joints in ledgers
Joints in ledgers at the same lift and in adjacent lifts should not normally occur in the same bay. However, the absence of a joint in the guard rail in any bay may be accepted as giving sufficient continuity to the scaffold to permit joints in the same ledgers above and below it in the same bay.

Joints in the ledgers of TG20 compliant independent or putlog scaffolding may be anywhere within a bay if sleeve couplers are used. However, where an inner cantilevered platform is provided as described in section 6.19, any joints at the lift incorporating the cantilevered platform should be within 300mm of a standard unless they are spliced."

"Joints in guard rails
Joints in guard rails are normally permitted in any bay and may be placed anywhere within a bay. However, in the case of sheeted scaffolding in Extreme wind (as defined in section 3.3) or sheeted scaffolding exceeding 30m height in High wing, any joints in the guard rails should be within 300mm of a standard unless they are spliced as described above."
