I remember the commandos but not the compass, all I got was the badge. Are you sure they were the commandos?
 
Think so I can remember staring longingly at them in the shoe shop window.

Just googled them. The compass was in the heel. Said it was an amazing bit of marketing. How to get young boys to want to wear black lace up shoes just call them Commandos. Of course that was in the days when political correctness was an MP who wasnt a sexual pervert!
