How long to get offshore work??

Why dont you say on you cv you have experiance working on oil rigs but not offshore, example like working in the ship yards. Or if you do say you have worked offshore before make sure there cannit check up on it by saying you have worked in africa, norway or egypt but make sure you have a good story to back it up like company names. GOOD LUCK its a hard time to get offshore atm.

They could always ask to see your BOSIET certs from Holland etc
Better not to ******** at all. If your names not on the list your not coming in LOL

if you work offshore in the nederlands you get your (green book)vca, stamped to prove you were offshore, also in the nederlands a guy on his first trip will wear a hard hat a different colour than the rest of the crew, this is so all the experienced guys know its your first trip and you have no experience and they will watch your back as much as possible, also dont be lying you were offshore and you get out there and you are given a drawing ,a job to do and you cant do either, honestly is the best policy

In the North Sea you wear a green hat and that is on every rig you go on for the 1st time, for those that havent been offshore before you just say youve worked on a rig in a yard or invergordon places like that, all this honesty is the best policie ******** I'd like to see half of the CV's people put out av been workin Offshore for 20 years, if the company needs people they will take you even if you havent been offshore before its just ringing at the right time.

How much money are you expected to get when you work offshore anyhow??
Just want to make sure its worth the hasle coz according to the replies this BOISET might prove to be a waste of money if the wages are low and slim chance of work.
Im sure the wages are good, no disrespect just like a rought idea how much.

What`s the average for scaffs £1000 a week or is it more £500, just a rought idea to justify if its worth going for the BOISET.
Please send private message if you want thanks.

i havnt been offshore for over a year but the normal if your not getting overtime is about 2300 - 2400 for the 14 day trip . you dont get paid for the time off so this works out about 500 - 600 a week over the month and while you wont spend a lot when your out there you have plenty of time to spend when your off

Hi all doing the BOISET/MIST thing next year, roughly how long does it take to get a job from the experience of people here after doing it. What is a reasonable time frame from the time of completing the course until you get a job, 6 months a year!!!
I am part 2 (carded) with 10 years experience and will be doing my advanced in March so have to wait a while before i get the card, just have the certificate for a while but will still have the basic scaff card.
Most of my experience is street work but have worked on a nuclear power station for hurtel for 2 years in the past and worked in Aus for a year doing swinging stages and layer system, cup lock etc.
Ive heard a lot of guys say its who you know, my neighbour has worked offshore for years but with rope access will this help in regards of scaffolding work?
Anyhow back to the question how long do you think it will take to land a job if i apply every day given that my CV contains a lot of street work in your opinion ot from the experience of guys that have been in this predicament?
just keep pestering the companys by phone cape ,salamis, rgb, try mcdonald scaffolding also just google them companys for contact numbers this time of year is a bad time to apply anyway wait until feb then pester the hell out of them there is blokes who always miss check ins the law of avreges you will get a start sooner or later if you ring every day and send them your cv from baz

woodsie, basic rate is around the 2300 a month take home for the basic 84 hours a week, a lot of rigs pay a uplift,we take home around 3 k a month with our uplift for the flat 84 hours per week

Whats uplift is that like more hours at time & a half, double time or when you have a deadline to meet???

An uplift is something given by the oil company as a sort of bonus , it keeps the guys on the job instead of looking elsewhere . You will usually find an uplift if the job has no overtime or is a bit of a pig . Becuase there is an obundance of guys at the moment uplifts are hard to come by .

lol scaffrobbo havent heard of an uplift for few years mate, all the best out there for the new year lad.

To true celticbhoy ,all the best for the new year and the fitty the morra , wonder if freddies gonna stick a sock down his shorts .
