**hilti drill replaces the spanner**

grenrose

Scaffolders are renowned for their problem solving skills---our Job is hard enough so we adapt to take the line of least resistance.

aom

The Scaffs are doing it for them selfs ;)

you have also the vibration to consider and will have to do all the calculations as to time being used..

boomer101

aye, an other good point for consideration---vibration white finger and the suppression of vibration may be controlled by absorption of energy into the rubber composite of the handle as a further control measure absorption cloves can be worn.

As for time exposure to the Spanners use---just because the Couplers can be deployed faster than with the Traditional Spanner doesn't meen to say the a Scaffs got to be erecting ALL day, once the quota has been achieved stand down to lighter duties, one could go for a comfort break OR a refreshment perhaps ;)

when battery runs low less torque e.g loose fittings,

the spanners nine inches for a reason,i know of boys who have been on jobs after these drills with spanners, they either to tight or to loose,no inbetween.handy on price work but dodgy id say

One could have a half chop every day

half inch

Good points---conserving and maintaining sufficient power will depend on the quality of the Coupler if the Fitting Body, Gate, washer and threads are maintained as the aught in accordance with Statutory Requirements them resistance will be low and less power required to achieve the alloted Torque.

Over Torque: The Impact Drills that are available now are over Torqued.

Under Torque: Fowled or Damaged Threads when deploying Fitting, the Torque acts on resistance and if the thread is damaged then there will be a fauls Torque response.

Some good ideas here.

I like the RV one regarding the power pack.

Anyway, my tuppence hapenny input. Could there not be a powerpack that would attach to your belt with a dual core shrouded cable, the First holding the charge with the 2nd with a suitable material that would act as a Lanyard.

This dual cable, would ,i hope work on the same system as a 'Inertia Reel' self retracting and fall arresst of the tool, which in turn protects the user from 'Snagging' himself plus no trailing cable.

As I said could be just a problem!!

Use a lot of hired gear in my job 30% of clips do not do up on the tube 100%.

Erect with temp braces & standards shows the weak fittings!!.

Threads will stretch over time!!

Not saying that 96% of scaffolders will experience faults with fittings failing. But HSE rules will want close to 100% to be safe. So if you need a tool to do the fittings up it needs to be for purpose!!

Ragscaff

That will be lazy people that bend the tube out the clips or drop the ledgers on the return of a baseout so it pulls on the clip.
Bit like letting the ledger hang on a sleeve on a baseout, we have all done it striking a base out single handed knowing full well it stretches the sleeve.
Spiggots are the worse when people wobble than standard bending them rather than bend down undoing them!
I put a 21' on a bent one the other day and actually thought it was coming out the spiggot:eek: it lent out that much.
Not good when your 50ft up!

Ive been scaffolding for 25 years and agree with redviking i've been using mine for a few years now, my wrists dont ache when i go home at night

how do you get the torque right when battery runs low, load of **** ive stripped jobs where they been used and they either to tight or to loose

Never a happy medium, eh? What Torque you got on your wrist mate? is it the same at 8.00am as it is at 4.30pm are all the fittings serviced to such a high standard that you know after 2 and a half wraps on a double you have attached a fitting to exactly 55nm.

Good lad, keep up the good work.

to be honest i think thats why the spanners are 9 incches no smaller no bigger yeh

as for being to strong on the thread in the morning it fucks the thread so an even key all day i say wouldnt you

paddy you work down pembroke a few years ago with your brother in law for hertels

never ever replace a spanner will it , most scaffs i know would forget to charge the battery , steal other peoples battery , leave them lying about to be robbed , not buy one in the first place , sell there own for drug money , sell there mates for drink money .hurt each other with them , do strange things to there girlfriends with them , take the p!ss out of others for having one . more for the scaffolding fan than the actual scaffolder
