Health and Safety (FUTURE IDEAS)

they should learn and listen to the man at the front,on what works, and what doesent.23 years on the job ,and i feel safer without an harness, than with it,i understand the need for them sometime, but i think ,with the average scaffolders knowledge of working conditions,it should be a case of if we think it nessasary to put one on for a spasific job, then its our call.not them telling us how to do our jobs,we dont tell them how to sweep up.:toung:

The next will be rocket propelled boots so you dont have to step up onto the step up device as everybody will be claiming for repetative knee injuries.... Which will also require NASC Training in conjunction with NASA.

Advanced guardrails

Hi

I think they will be insisting that all scaffolds are erected using an advanced guardrail system in the next 5-10 years.

I know that there are a lot of types out there and I think the next issue of SG4 will be placing more emphasis on them

Unfortunately they will probably still insist that you guys still wear harness's just in case you have to work on an unguarded edge.

All the best

To be honest Chris, this is already happening.

All the main contractors are insisting on some kind of advanced guardrail be used now, whether it be system or step ups.

SG4:10 is due to be issued in November.
