Apparently.. I will have to fly from Canada to do the 5 min touchscreen test when my cards are due for renewal... how **** is that... my little girl could pass that aswell... WTF...

Is it a requirement out there for a current card Cassie?

Is there a time limit for renewing your card or can they lie dormant for a long time and be reactivated on your return?

I think i read somewhere it's two years, you would think there would be provision for the lads who work oversea's,but then again you've had the training,it's only that cisrs want to tax you every five years on your card renewal, why??what a feckin rip off:(

I am really surprised that you cannot take the test online at your local test centre cassie

I suppose you'd have to engage in a lot of tooing and froing with emails, but it would'nt surprise me if they tried to send you back to the start, dont forget cisrs only exists to take your money:mad:

I would be surprised if that were the case although I have absolutely no knowledge of how it works as I have done nothing else but scaffing since I got a card.

just done my H&S touchscreen again last week for my card renewal, FFs like going to visit someone in prison. step 1 Reception:proof of ID and receipt, invoice etc. Step2. handed key for locker, everything to be placed in locker even watch's, ID to be kept on you though.Step3.sit in waiting area till called forward.Step 4. approach the desk when called, show I.D roll up sleeves and pat down your pockets.Sit down and look straight ahead to web-cam. proceed to testing area.Step 5. roll up sleeves and pat pockets again.Step 6. take the test, took me 12 mins 50/50 specialist work at height (still dont know for definite if we need that one yet, but my lads all do that one AOM).Step 7.Show I.D get test results, then clear your locker and leave the building, what a farce.

Paddy, that sounds a total nightmare. We just go into a back of an old van to do it. Still just do the general though.

yes total joke , i showed my contempt for this pishy test when i showed up last year and told the guy id be finished before he could count to 500 , think i was 4 mins 40 secs , never again though , as survival means no need , wish id known that at the time

I just do the general one for advance card and the supervision one for the supervisers card, you sure you're doing the right one paddy?

You are wasting your breath BF, I tried to tell him but it fell on deaf ears, you can lead a horse to water.:D

CISRS card aren't recognised out here, its just I don't want to lose my UK cards , but having to fly back to do a 5 min test is not good... I have 3 cards to renew aswell.... my Canadian card I think lasts 5 years and its pretty much same deal as ours to renew... if we move back to the UK I wouldn't bother renewing canadian one though....

I got to renew. Adv card, supv card, Adv inspection card, cost me about £100 for 15 mins..... £600 for flight,, £100 for train from heathrow, etc.. so going to cost me about a grand minimum...

well why are some of the questions in the specialist working at height scaffolding orietated like the 'What is the maximun spacing between Handrails 470mm and all that. my youngun and some more lads i know done the 'Specialist working at height' and still got their cards renewed, anyway, bye the bye, still the same bit of pass paper, not as if i done the CPCS or plumbers test.
