chimneys

i passed a job last week and stopped to talk to the other lads. chimneys with no toeboards, handrails missing over the ridge, 10' bays for rebuilding and the ledgers on clips with no boards under the saddle tubes so all the weight was on the roof. Thing is these lads were scaffolding when i started about 15 year ago
 
WTF no boards under the saddle??? Seems a costly roof repair will be heading someone's way.
 
like teeside said thats experience. I know we all preach to be the best but sometimes a mixture of experience and the new lads with the knowledge of the new ways and regs sometimes prevail.
 
up our way we have quite steep roofs so its not too far in from the tower and you can do the chimney with a couple of ally beams simples
 
when the bottom inside ledger is put on the outside of the centres saves any hassle trying to get 21s under or over just walk them in some dont like the practice some do.
 
Worse way to base out , do it the mans way (bit like vancouver does)
 
Wot is going on soon we will not be able to use a tape without a drawing showing how to use it!
