Fred I think there covering all the bases as you have to take into account that street work lads might not have that luxury of pre site asbestos inspections, it was just something I had to do otherwise no passing go mate.

there have been quite a number of free Asbestos awearness courses, 1 man at a time jobs, but they have been worth it and as we do a fair bit of street work and it fulfills the criteria. but before our lads went on the courses full toolbox talks on the subject with backup hand outs showing staff attendance and understanding was sufficient to qualify

For information this next 12 months will see the end of the 2 levels CHAS have been running compliant which was a 2 yearly audit and accreditation that was annual audit

now all applicants will undergo an annual audit

"At the last CHAS scheme National Management Board meeting on the 8th November 2011 the board agreed to a proposal that our scheme should, like the majority of other health and safety pre-qualification schemes, move to an annual assessment cycle.
CHAS plans to introduce annual assessment for all suppliers in the Summer of 2012.This decision was made with the knowledge that over eighty percent of our registered compliant suppliers already choose to be assessed annually
