Calling all Impact Wrench users!

As said Makita do one but the pins do snap .made my own pin out of a nail just put gaffer tape round the out side to keep pin in place a nail is much stronger than a pin

If ur pin keeps snapping its a sighn that the hole in your anvil has enlarged & oveled through use so time to replace it, normally takes ue socket as well..anvil is only £25@ £8.50 for a new socket &pin...takes about 10mins to change m8

My box came of after a week that spring is useless as in said before just cut a nail to size then put rubber band back or get gaffer tape job done

This is all new to me so excuse what might seem like a stupid question , the ball bearing wears out ( that makes sense ) so do you drill out the ball bearing and put a pin through that and the box ?

Phill there should be a hole in the bit you put the socket on have you got a Makita ???

Ive tried that m8 lol its made out of hardened steel & after 4 drill bits & over an hour i gave up & passed the task over to a steel fabricator m8 to do who advised me a jig slowdrill & cutting oil wre required +time so was cheeper to buy a new anvil with the hole already in it. Everynow & again due to the heavy daily use of these IWs have, they need a few things renewing - we got 8 on the go now & allways have spare brushes available.

Iam totally converted to using it Gary , in would hate to have to go back to a spanner only now , in fact all i carry is a ratchet with the IW now :)

Is it the whirring nose when the brushes go? Had 1 of the lads one start doing it this week.

You can get spare triggers off the net mate, not sure how much they are and take about 5-10 mibs to change. I dont know what else to suggest with the loss of power gaz.

Sometomes as well a common cause of power loss is the magnet that surrounds the armiture fractures & displaces- £10 & ten mins to put a new one on.

Mine lost power changed brushes but still same
So I took it into a local makita service centre
And they changed the servo? Back to full power now though.

Thanks sp took it to a local repairers he said it was the clutch I gave him the go a
Head £30 bet I been done again.i was gona buy another but was put of when he told me a body is £150 two months ago I paid £120 so £30 for repair sounded better

Just recently ive done a few repairs to the older drills tbh a new bare unit costs£140 but if you know what ur doing its a lot easier & cheeper- obviously the brushes are quick, cheep & easy to do but once u open the case everything is easily excessable & fairly cheep to replace.ive never heard of a clutch in the makita but could be wrong the main motor is called the armiture which has a magnet surrounding it & this slots into the back of a direct drive gearbox housing....the housing comes in 2 bits, the actual housing itself where all the gears are & are held in place by a big nut, its the thread on this nut that wears down cos its aliminium & so everything goes loose & wobbly.-the anvil(or drive u fix the socket onto) is located within the opposite end of the gear housing & to change this you just take the big nut off clockwise & the gear block falls out in one lump giving access to change the anvil.when putting it back together special note should be the luggs on the gear housing & the recess on the armiture magnet which need to sit in there respective keeps ....otherwise no mater how much u try u just wont get the 2 halves of the gun back 2gether.ope this info helps & saves you time & money sending it off
