Basic Scaffolder Heathrow

furthermore, umbrella payroll through cis does not rip off the men....ITS A FACT that the men who work for me take home £39 per week MORE using that system than they would under any other payroll method...maybe you can tell them they are being ripped off I am sure they would love to hear what you have to say

If you are not good with maths that;s £2028 per year MORE in their pockets on a 40 hour week! now i am no Derren Brown (but i can spell it at least) but I am fairly sure 2k a year more take home is great???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Maybe you had your fingers burnt by some cowboys, I dont know and I dont really care, but until you are capable of making a statement thats valid and has some substance to it, I would suggest you stick to throwing up tube and leave the number crunching and wages to the people who can count past their fingers before coming on here to throw abuse at people offering work to the people here..

[/COLOR]thank you Lee, so we agree the agent was making a tenner roughly? do you think thats is unfair fee for going out and finding good men, giving them ppe and making sure they get paid and are happy?

I know not all agents do that, but not all scaffs want to work hard or turn up, for every good one i get i get apply 5 who i would not let on site, but its unfair to brand every one with the traits of the worst of us..is it not?

I can only go by what I know, like I say I only worked for an agency once and was ripped off,but have been in the game for close to 30 years and the stories I hear about agencies are more bad than good, don't get me wrong, know a few lads who have been clearing a grand a week off them working 7 days,I own my company now and employ my men direct so don't really know what the crack is with agencies these days, but the guy threatening to ring the police on a guy certainly don't paint them in a good light does it.

To be fair agencies are only copying companies. I worked direct for a company overseas and they paid me 15k a month but charged the client 20k a month for me. To be fair they did pay for my house, car and bills as well but to make money from an employee is actually called business. One of the key things about having a successful business is a thing called profit.
If you were on the cards do you think your boss pays you what you earn him?

well I have to be honest and say that in my history i have always felt MOST agencies let me down as an employer EXCEPT the really good ones who i couldnt have managed my business without...its like any other sector and any other product...u get good u get bad, but if every person who had paid for a **** scaffold said that all scaffolders were ****....no-one would get work! same for agents..

If you take on men full time you are tied under contract and if they are **** or the work dries up as a business you are buggered..also if you have work away from your main area and need transient labour that is reliable then you cannot take them on as it is again un-managable and increases your operating costs....
At that stage having a good reliable supplier in the area that can visit site, do the timesheets, check the work etc is a HUGE benefit to the owner of the business..
Here is an example ....if you pay a man 16 an hour he will cost you 20.43 ish....as a provider of outsourced labour i can supply the same man for less and still pay him the 16 and make a profit myself....
Furthermore the man can also claim back tax benefits for travel to work cost, basic expenses, workwear tools etc...being employed by that set-up while legally protected by being under contract to an independant company..so how does he lose? or the employer?

There is profit true, but thats because the employer is directing his spend to an external source rather than employing staff to run the process or .....
So its profit made from an unavoidable cost of business! People are a fundamentally flawed product, they are prone to illness, mistakes, failure and of ciourse success....but businesses are built and broken by those same people...if a contractor is under threats that he loses a 5 mill contract due to bad labour, is it unreasonable of him to spend 50k on an agent to manasge the men and find good ones 24hrs a day?

joebag would have us all believe the agents create a cost that should go to the labour its just not that simple I am afraid... agents profits but thats just business..if its saved money for the owner of the firm and put a nifty in the pocket of the scaff who is losing out i just dont see the logic in that attitude?

Its totally above board and approved by CIS so why some people say its a rip off when thousands of people use the system i do not know...its much more likely the agency were just blatant cowboys OR the lads werent doing the hours or performing and a common problem is men get hammered with deductions for unpaid tax from when they have been self employed....however explaining that to some people is also very hard and usually results in a spanner to face...either way I could guarantee whatever way some people are paid they will ALWAYS find a reason to whinge and moan...

No degree Bobby just my mate owned the company.;)
Seriously I was construction manager down under. Most of the senior positions will pay 200k + a year . Certainly wish I was still there.

More likely he will be hijacking a plane and flying to Pakistan to bring more of his many cussins over here. Will save him money on postage for many birthday cards.
