I was on there jan/feb picking up £1200 a week but that was through the best paying agency on there. £617!!!!!

Guarantee you this guys getting 35 - 40 quid an hour then taking at least half for ''admin'', you absolute parasite.

I know some blokes are worried about offending agencies but works picking up, the more we drive these cretins out the game the more wages will increase, in the short term it might dry up a bit but long term if theres no blood the parasites will shrivel and die.....

How dare you offer those rates to men who are feeding your kids for you, you pathetic human being !!!!!!

you'd expect a lot better rate working on a site like heathrow, not as if you're house bashing?

£13 ph for a scaffolder is a joke.Whatever way you dress the o/t rate up.That ****** is getting at least double that for sitting on his arse making a phonecall.Id hope no matter how desperate any fellow Scaffs were wouldn't ring him but unfortunately they will and that's why they are getting away with it.

Gotta say this guys but I have been working in recruitment for scaffs for a few months now after being in the industry as a manager for DSL, selling kit, training scaffs and doing contracts for temp roofing on site....

I am telling you right now that agencies are making NOWHERE NEAR what you seem to think, the average is less than £1 an hour after costs so the idea they are getting £30+ an hour when paying £13 is absolute madness...

Firstly, the clients decide how much the men are paid, not the agency...

And finally why would you worry what the agent makes if you are getting the rates you want and long term work??

The reality of any industry is that its expensive to run payroll, recruit staff and manage them, without agents the clients would need to employ people to do all the work, and that itself costs the client money...and more than an agent fees are I assure you...its simple, the recruitment industry would not exist if there was not a need from the users for it.

By the time a 50k contracts manager wastes 2 weeks recruiting men, for half of them to let him down, he is better off getting someone like me to do all that and eliminate the problem...

The sad truth is that if there werent so many morons masquerading as skilled labour, the industry would be in much better shape and the quality of work an rates would go up...

That said, if all scaffs were as amazing as joebag then none of us would be unemployed or need anyone else to do our wages, holidays, taxes safety etc etc etc..as the men would just turn up at the job on the day as we would psychically communicate the job is starting and scaffs would fall from the sky, the scaffold would be erected as if by magic and the wages would float from the client to the men on fairy dust and then the nearest pub to site so really we wouldnt need to do anything at all to succeed!...but we dont live in an ideal world do we..we live in the real world and that means people are needed to manage the process or it all falls apart, so unless you are going to step up and do better I suggest you worry more about putting up a good job and improving the industry that way, and less about the things you clearly do not understand..

GET REALISTIC, IF YOU DONT LIKE THE AGENT AND THE WAGES ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU........................... DONT APPLY FOR THE JOB!

And for the record....I have scaffs out for me who are working for a client and I got their wage increased by £1.75 an hour, i dont make any more AT ALL!!!!

Not all agents are the devil incarnate, some of us actually care about our staff and look after them...

That is how I roll............

I had to use a couple of guys through an agency last year as no one local wanted just a weeks work.
The agency charged us £1.10 per hour more than they were paying the scaffs.

Guy I now employ was working for an agency before me,they charged £175 a day,he was on £120 a day,that was a scaffolder/driver.

Must have gone under that agency, last job mate they were making at least a tenner on the agency blokes, christ why do you think they do it, theres no place for them and if they werent their it would force contractors to get there house in order !

I assume he was either trying to get his foot in the door or he believed me when I said there was no money left on the job.:)

They're no different to anyone else, they will take what they can get.

Yorkshire lee....may ask was that including VAT at 20%? as that would be the norm, and the VAT is reclaimable by the company...SO the man on £120 for 8 hours is earning £15ph....add on £2 ph for the agents and plus vat there is your costs...the £2 fee from agents is most likely making them a profit of £1 per hour after they have paid for payroll etc...

If this was done under paye the man on £120 per day would cost the employer over £165by the time he has paid hiw NI and WTR accruals...so the agency is making less than tenner a day if that...if they supplied his ppe or tools (like i do for my men) he would be making even less...

Joebag, ballbag whatever ya name is...You know jack pal. I have run a scaffold company, what have you ever done to give you an understanding of this business other than be labour for someone else? You may be good at that but clearly that is your strength and not business..

Good men get good rates and smart businesses use good suppliers....if it was a rip off why would any company use the system? if you dont like the systemwhy dont you come up with a better one and go and recruit people for your scaffold company...ok sorry, you dont have one do you
