Ring around a load of agency's and demand a minimum of £20/hour.

Don't accept any less to start with or you'll ruin it for all the others.

20 an hour you find some1 to pay me that and I'll pay u £5.00 an hour lol

Yes. You must start Labouring (like we all did) either on site or in the yard to be able to fully appreciate the weights of the equipment, how to carry/stack etc.
A basic understanding of Scaffolding is usually learned while Labouring, fetching/carrying gear and watching the older, more experienced and qualified blokes working.

You'd want a good few years Labouring to start (i had 2 1/2 years Labouring), before even considering doing a Trainees course.
This way you should grasp the concepts of how to Tie off, Pull up, What a Double does, Clip, Sleeve, etc. How to safety handle Tubes etc.

Then its onwards and upwards. :)

Read this if you want? The Fully Comprehensive Guide to Scaffolding <<< click there.
Might come in handy.

Maybe ring about local Firms or Agencies asking for work in a Scaffolding yard?
If you get on, they will probably move you out onto site after a while.

Got my cscs test booked for Friday 8th hopefully that will go fine, won't have a job after the 11th march so will be looking for work then.do you think it would be wise to offer a week free of charge as a trial or do you think people will just mugg me off looking for some free labour ???? Cheers

Welcome to the forum...scaffolding isnt as glamours & well paid as you may think.
Your gonna be wet & cold in the winter- hot & dusty in the summer & aching all the time ...everyday will bring an injury from a stubed toe - splinnters- or some other minor/ major occurance...but if u still think its for you What u need to do once u got ur cscs card....go to night colledge enrole in a plumbing course & after a cpl of years when ur charging a monkey to fit a washer tap....you'll look back and wondet why you ever had such a stupid thought as to become a scaffy.:D:suspicious:

Hi lads got my cscs tomoz best pass!!!, thinking of doing my hgv licence do you think this would greatly help me out in a carreer as a scaffold or do you not think it wouldn't be worth the money ??? Cheers

hi m8

i thing you need to deside what path you want to take scaffolding or hgv driveing
my advice HGV m8 got to be easyer liveing

Cheers jonny but I defo want to get in to the scafolding need to be active driving all day would do my sweed in, what I meant was do u think it would give me a great advantage finding a job having the hgv and keep my job more secure once I was with a firm cheers

hgv would just be a waist of money then being able to drive a 7.5 ton flat bed scaff wagon would be a good thing if you were planning to spend most you time on town but i am ok to drive them on my normal licence but thats cause iv had my licence since the old paper 1ns im no sure if you can drive them on the new photo id 1ns but it would not be nessicery just do the scaffolding if the compay you get on for wants you to drive wagons make them pay for it most companys have the own wagon drivers anyway but do you have driveing licence? some company prefare you to be able to get to work.
good luck to you m8 hope all gose well it is a good job and as long as your ok with the hights and early morning traveling. :)

Sorry johny can't agree with that, a scaffolder who can drive a truck is as scarce as hens teeth round these parts. If two guys arrived at my yard looking for work the hgv driver would get it every time. I think it was 96 they removed the 7.5 tonner from the licence.
