why cant i do my advance until ive held part 2 card for 1 year i did part2 course in 2004 my assesment a couple of months ago but training centre wont let me do advance why?
 
Might be wrong but until you have completed your assessment you are not a part 2 (Basic Scaffolder). The assessment is the final part of being classed as a scaff.

Once you have done this you then have to wait the year before you can go for advanced.
 
thats the way it always used to be , you dont hold part 2 until you complete your final assesment
 
iknow that like but its a bit rubbish so if i did my assesment 3 month ago ive to wait 9 month b4 i can do course
 
why did it take you 6 years to do your assessment normally its 6 months after you complete the course and is only 1 day duration
 
I am in a similar situation. Done my part 2 course in March this year but have not completed the portfolio.

I am finding it really difficult to complete. As I work for the old man doing streetworks :)embarrest:) it is between getting time to put on all the PPE & harness and actually putting the jobs like you are shown how to in the college. At the end of the day his bottom line is getting in money and not me getting the card.
 
Previous poster is right, not actually qualified untill final assesment is signed off as completed.
Stick with it and go for it as soon as you can m8.

Like already said, Im surprised paperwork didnt go missing.
Did you have to re-enrol onto the NVQ system as well? Most do as the NVQ expires if not completed.

yes i had to pay 75 quid to go on new nvq register
 
to be honest mate your not experienced enough it takes longer than youve been doing it to get the experience to be come advanced
 
Why is that like i know im better than most advanced scaffolders who I've worked with so sorry pal but i think i am in fact i know i am there's sum useless people at firm were im working on 2quid an hour more that can't even use tube and fitting

worked with sum **** advance scaffs m8 and i av enough experince can you tel me a reason why im not
 
I have worked with some exelent scaffs that don't hold a cisrs card and I have also worked with advanced scaffs that ain't got a clue. Most people these days think once they got cisrs card there the best thing since sliced bread but in reality all they are good for is running in lifts. It takes many years at least ten I would say and experience on all diffrent types of job to class yourself as a true scaff.

you dont need pics you can just get handing over certificate hand risk asessment you can make them up

true pal and thats how long ive been doin it 1 year labouring 3 year part1 then did part2 1 day assesment 6 year later .lol

Why not come in a saturday put a job up in the yard with the things to you need for you portfolio.
 
Done the tower job in the yard to access a flood light :smile1:

Also the portfolio I got you have 29 tasks and you need photos for the job specific ones showing you in your PPE & Harness midway through you erecting the job.
 
spunky its not quite right but you can use photos of the same job and list them as erection and dismantle , just take photos from different angles , i wonder how many lads actually erect the jobs in their photos ?

quiet a few mostly the handrails .i no lads that have learnt from me and others how are 19 20 how are now more qualified than me all because they were paid peanuts while they were trainning by the companys i would like a pound for every photo of mine and other scaffolders that theve used good luck to them the systems been floored for years least cisrs have had mine and other scaffs portpolios might get a job as a labourer with the scaffolders that i have taught over the years next year lmfao.
 
Me personally have erected all my jobs. Also you get warned that photos of handrailing will not cut it. If its a cantilever it must be of you putting that section in etc...
 
good on you spunkywads26 atleast your not cheeting yourself it does go onthough mate.
 
Sammyscaff, don't be in such a rush to get the ticket, most employers can see straight through it anyway and the sites you are looking to get on pay a site rate rather on grade of card.
