ha ha ha ha ha ha haven't laughed so hard since my brother got attacked by that Alsation dog.

At 16 its not bad for an apprentice, im all for higher wages but I bet this produces better young scaffs than the sh1te churned out of the cash cow training centres looking for at least a monkey a week with no experience !

When I was 16 joe I was on 30 sobs a day for a building firm granted that was nearly 13 years ago lol still was happy at that even my first scaffolding job was only 50 a day on the yts for sgb 10 years ago then I discovered booze and the gear completly fooked now prob better off then than I am now lol

bang out of order apprentiship or not the industry is the hardest in the world simple as that. and should be at least £5 an hour i think its fekign terrible you can deffo earn more in tesco at the same age and they wonder why ne cant wants a job. personally i worked for 18 months 3 days a week for nothing but it was something i wanted to do and was hoping to get me tickets out of it but 1 reason and another it never happend got a xmas bonus of him after working over a year but got it in feb fuked him off after that then another for 150 a week for 18 months and couldnt get on the nvq coz it was cash so basically for 3 years for 40 plus ours as week i averaged 75 a week doing the same jobs as some 1 on 400 500 a week after 2 3 months doing it. it fuking stinks, thye must think all people under 25 live at there mams ther a lad a this spot in an apprentiship had a hard life been in care on 120 a week and moving fomr a care home in to his own house how the fuk is he gonna manage the poor **** for the last year as been biking in 1 hours in all weather i now go out ym way 15 min to pic the poor cant up

Absolutely disgraceful , how you could pay someone that is beyond me start the young fellas on £40-£50 a day and see how they shape up give them a small rise every 6 months or so as they get better .
You couldnt afford to feed yourself on that money never mine drink and go to the brothel

just to let you know 33 years ago I did a yop programme at the brick development college in Colindale nw London. I spent 6 months on £26 a week learning how to become adept in the art of tube and fittings. of course all my mates took the **** as they were on four times that working in tescos. but after 6 months I was on double what they were on. I don't think in the last 20 years ive earnt less than 700 for a 5 day week . so training does pay........

Good man southscaff, keep socking it to them.

Time to get real boys, that's what an apprentice is meant to earn.

well well well.let me guess the apprentiship is for 6 years I thought chimney sweeps kids was against the law you tight fisted dirty dealing money hungry slave driving jump up never come down pompuss ignorant blood bleeding leaches.
I must admit this is truly the lowest thread I have seen to hit the forum let me guess no takers out of the job centre.

Bet the job was filled first morning.

We take them on at closer to 70 a day but what you see is the industry standard.

We work them though, no hiding in the yard here.

That's the best way al I myself was stuck in the yard for 3 months!!!! Learning all the componants for cuplock before I was let out don't get me wrong sbg was a pukka outfit for training/tickets but I was given a harness on my first day and had some tools from woolworths couple of weeks later lol in truth I wished I'd started with small/ street firm think I'd be a much better scaffolder thank I've turned out ( mostly system) as for 70 a day for ur part of the world from what I understand that's quite a good wage the going rate for a labourer in london from scratch is 50-80

I reckon it's the best way Bobby, my only regret is not having the patience to stand and watch more instead of getting them out the road and doing it myself, never said I was perfect.

There was a time when after training they could head for the bright lights of the city and get a better paid job, these days are long behind us. Nobody gets anything handed to them though, the crew with me are grafters.

Its certainly is al the most annoying thing with me is (and has annoyed a good few other scaffs in the past lol ) is that I don't think/ concentrate I rush round 100 mile an hour and then have to go back on myself ie when stricking undoing the tranny and then coming back to undo the ledger etc lol ( don't think it would do ur patience much good hehe)

I suffer with confidence as well because I know I'm not as good as the blokes I'm usually with shame I think 6 months of CONSTANT fixing poss on street would sort me right out

Probably wouldn't take that long being honest. That jumping about thing really does annoy me, just because it's not system doesn't mean there isn't a system involved in the erecting of it. I usually kick that out them fairly sharpish. You know what they say Bobby, more haste less speed.

Our appretices are started on £6.50 hr for 42.5hrs, snd they still get time and a half for overtime. So basic for them is £276 a week.
