Job Description:JOB DUTIES:

● Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline or area;

● Responsible to ensure the implementation, and compliance by contractors, of the site Safety, Health & Environment requirements;

● Ensures work is carried out safely, abiding by all company safety rules and applicable legislation;

● Works closely with the Health and Safety Manager and HS&E coordinators to check that construction contractor’s employees have received adequate HS&E training, and checks contractor safety plans;

● Provides assistance to the Health and Safety Manager and HS&E Coordinators to ensure a safe working site, and attends the safety meetings with the contractors;

● Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations;

● Coordinates scaffolding requirements with Area Construction Managers, ensuring scaffolding requested by field staff is reasonable and managed in an efficient and cost effective manner;

● Ensures the scaffolding contractor maintains proper identification and accounting of all scaffolding equipment;

● Monitors the scaffolding material used, weekly rental costs & durations by contractor & area, and advises Area CM’s of same on a weekly basis;

● Verifies and confirms accuracy of all scaffolding quantities and durations submitted;

● Coordinates with scaffolding contractor and others as required for engineered and special scaffolding;

● Ensures all scaffolding is inspected and properly tagged for use in accordance with scaffold tagging procedures and closely monitors & records any scaffolding modifications;

● Ensures all contractors under his responsibility maintain sufficient numbers of workers with suitable qualifications, adequate equipment to perform the required work, and continued supervision of the works and their employees;

● Schedules work activities, equipment deliveries, and manpower requirements with contractors to meet established completion dates;

● Ensures contractor’s conformance to specifications, schedule, and cost, and assists the contractor on all matters pertaining to the contract;

● Participates in the coordination of contractor’s activities within the other discipline construction supervisors / coordinators and the Safety Coordinator, and advises contractors of available work fronts;

● Attends the coordination and progress review meetings with construction contractors;

● Reviews and approves the progress proposed by contractors;

● Prepares monthly discipline / contract reports and other reports as required by the Construction Manager and Area Construction Managers;

● Records daily activities in a log and submits a daily report identifying all important activities, changes and special events;

● Checks materials supplied by contractors for compliance with the approved specification, and analyses and technically approves requests for variations submitted by contractors;

● Analyses additional work, modifications, and changes to determine the cause, and recommend solutions to be implemented;

● Assists in the processing of contract change orders, back charges, and claims as necessary;

● Together with the Site Quality Manager and Site Quality Inspectors, coordinates with the Owner in matters pertaining to quality control, inspection, and testing;

● Monitors and checks directly the work carried out, trades and resources, workmanship and materials, and audits contractor’s quality control activities;

● Witnesses hold points of the site quality control plans, and signs the site inspection and test records;

● Issues discrepancy reports, initiates non-conformance reports (NCRs), and check that corrective actions have been performed;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential

● A degree or equivalent construction experience;

● 5-8 years experience as a supervisor / coordinator with experience on multi-discipline projects;

● Can demonstrate a HSEC focus in construction phase of project delivery;

● Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction operation relating to field activities of engineering disciplines, construction technologies, and jobsite supervisory functions;

● Strong leadership skills, the ability to direct and supervise contractors, and fit into a team environment;

● Proficient PC skills including a working knowledge of MS office suite, and scheduling software;

● Effective leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, planning and organizational skills for managing multiple tasks;

● Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines, and work in a fast paced environment;

Job Description:Senior Quantity Surveyor (Scaffolding) Based: South West Up to £38k basic + company car + 25 days holiday (with 8 stats) + 6% contributary pension scheme + 3 times death in service My client has operations throughout the UK and now trade from over 50 strategically located operations The Division is recognised as one of the UK’s major suppliers and has a wealth of experience across industrial, residential, restoration and the civil engineering sectors They are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor, who ideally has a lot of experience in working with scaffolding and access contracts etc, to successfully deliver sound commercial management of this important term contract, by adherence to the Company’s Procedures and to protect the exposure of the Company to financial risks. You'll also be required to oversee the effective management of the supply chain. THE ROLE To ensure the full and proper implementation of the Company’s Procedures. To co-operate with, report to and implement the reasonable directives of the Commercial Manager (functional reporting) and Operations Managers (operational matters). Ensure in consultation with the operational teams that all necessary notices and submissions required by the contract are given in an expedient manner so as to protect the Company’s position in its trading activities. Ensure in consultation with the site teams the prompt and regular submission of payment applications including for the timely submission of all necessary supporting information and subsequent cash collection and that subcontractor payments are dealt with fairly and in accordance with their subcontract terms. Assist the site teams in the administration of sub-contractor performance so as to ensure the economic and timely completion of all sub-contractor liabilities written into sub-contracts. Participate and advise on programme/delay issues arising from change/variations and to prepare claims for extensions of time. Prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts for outage events. Participate or lead in Project Meetings. Participate in dispute avoidance or alternatively resolution. Ensure the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter. Supervise, mentor and encourage all subordinate staff in their personal professional development. EXPERIENCE Sound knowledge of different industry contract, mainly JCT Extensive experience of commercial processes associated with live projects. Understanding of risk in construction engineering process. Extensive experience of working on live projects and concluding final accounts. Successfully completed a number of final accounts Experience of procuring sub contracts.
