This job is for interserve and that's the agency they use to try and get men
As they can't get men for obvious reasons,**** money and expected to travel all over

£11 hour yeah, the tossers on here that think they are worth more than that and comment that that is attendance money. Get real, you are probably the ones that work for the complexes like the spoilt brats that walked out the other day on Hertel. When I started scaffolding in London in the 70s ,it was all target work. we used to have to knock up a decent amount of scaffolding a day or we got crap money otherwise.It also made for good friendly competition between gangs on our area of London.We used to graft really hard but got paid well for it.
We were once sent into Teeside for Graysons working on Cleveland bridge near that transporter bridge for a month's work, and were told by the resident Prima donna scaffolding Tossers on union rates to slow down as we were doing too much work in a day and making them look stupid.
These guys think the world owes them a wage and that scaffolding is the hardest job in the world. What a load of ********! farming is an example of proper hard work, and ask how much a farm labourer earns and consider the hours and weather conditions they work in. Also remember that there is still a recession and will be for some time.If I was out of a job, £11 would do me just fine,it's better than scrounging money off the state. So to conclude, are there lads on here that would rather stay at home and scrounge off the state than turn down £11 per hour.

NO MATE YOU GET THE FCK REAL your the fckin problom its not the 70s anymore CHANGED DAYS mate!! yes i have made comments on here before about wages! we just want what we deserve, your getting labourers poping up everywhere on 9-10 an hour and you expect scaffolders ''how have payd to go and get ere part 2 tickets to work for 11 an hour???????? its a piss take is it not??? :mad: its not rite is it, i am part 2 and work up in scotland and yes i have worked for 11 an hour! i worked for a firm last year, part 2 was on 10.30 an hour and at the time labourers where on 9.72... i dont think this was rite, in this case then whats the point in going for your cards and all the scap that gos with them?? :mad: do you think a labourer should be on nearly the same as a scaffolder cuz i bloody dont!! if scaffolder labourers are getting say 10 an hour and scaffolder part 2 are getin 11 then whats the point? we should get say 13-15 an hour should we not????? the other day on this site you had somebody tryin to get part 2 scaffolders for 8.50 an hour in glasgow is a bloody joke!! so what you got to say aboot that BAWBAG!!

I know some labourers who work harder than scaffolders,they prop up these so called I 'am the best scaffolder in the business' tossers and deserve it more.Don't underestimate a good labourer.I started as a labourer and have always been taught and fully agree that if you have a good labourer you will get a lot more work done.Don't discriminate against labourers,and you may have got through your part two.We have them all the time,anyone can get a part 2, all you have to do is put the attendance in,I don't see anyone failing this course, but doesn't mean they can scaffold.Wev'e had some right tosser as part 2.If you think that you will always be able to get a job for more than £11 per hr, then good on you but don't turn it down if there's nothing else,and scrounge on the state.I have to pay my taxes, whatever the hourly rate and don't want to pay for dossers on the dole cos the hourly rate is not up to their expectations.Wages will not improve for some time yet so get used to it.

i do agree labourers can work hard but this is scaffolding we are talking about, most of the time 80-90% of the time scaffolders work with the labourer and yes a good scaffolder/labourer can and will make the job go up faster but i still think the scaffolder dos more dos he not??, what is the point in being a scaffolder and going down for tickets ''for 10 weeks in total'' some who pay for out of there own pocket... and you are expected to go down (hangers, cantilever,) and so on and the labourer is on nearly the same money as you come on do you think its rite?? its ok for people like you who probs work in office or so on, if your labourer get just aboot the same money as the scaffs are getting then whats the point?? :mad:
 
Well done on a very good thread. I have to say that there are a lot of people on here that are very quick to comment on what they consider to be poor rates. They must be some of the lucky ones who have managed to get good rates for their work. The regional difference is quite staggering and the construction industry is at a very low point at the moment. Some jobs are quoted at £10.46 per hour and get really slagged off. That is the CIJC rate for a scaffolder, but to get the full picture you have to allow for 6 weeks holiday pay and travel expenses etc, which puts the rate up to about £15.00 per hour.

On another note, I have been scaffolding for 42 years and have never considered myself some sort of prima donna who is above a labourer. A gang is only as good and fast as ir's labourer. You work as a gang and everyone contributes to it.

Bet those comments will cause a reaction.

i agree but my point is what is the point in going down for your part 2 if you can just be the scaffolders labourer and get 9.72 there no point in going for it is there?
 
I hear what you are saying, but for myself I went from a labourer to a scaffolder (many moons ago) because that is what I wanted to do. I didn't choose to do it for any monetary gain, but because i wanted to do it, and after all these years i still wouldn't change it. I've tried supervising and even a contract manager, but I've still gone back to scaffolding because I love doing it. My age has advanced but the job is easier now than it was twenty or thirty years ago.

And as an afterthought, if the only job I could find was for £8.50 per hour then I would take it. I'd rather be working and paying the bills than making a moral stand on benefit.
 
Any work is better than no work!!hopefully wages or target cash will get better in the near future...till then heads down and do whats neccessary to keep a wage coming in..as for labourers..good lads are vital,otherwise dont care who you are,the job is twice as hard..if they can get a tenner an hour,good on them because they earn it,if working with a good scaff...
