Has it? looks like there still offering 16ph here. I dont remember there being hardly any work in Manchester 3 years ago. Wasnt that like 2008-9 just when the credit crunch hit?

That was just an average rate 3 years ago self-employed In Manchester. Its has dropped considerably since.

what would make you people happy,£16 per hr this day and age is a good rate, not happy throw the spanners in the bin, stop drinking, smoking dope,fu-kin about like most scaffs do, go back get a education and decide were the big bucks is...otherwise get on with it and be happy.....

Yes Gaz you are right. Mid 2008 is when it nosedived in Manchester. The crunch, combined with most buildings being finished, is when all the good jobs in the city centre dried up. Prior to that, the average rate for self-employed scaffs were between
£15 and £17pr hour in the happy times. Now the average rate has dropped to around £13.50 which makes £16.00 an hour a good rate in this day and age.

Have I missed something here? Can anyone on here please see exactly which part of my first post on this thread says that £16 pound an hour was a BAD rate???? Gaz made a valid point and I am sure that like me he wasnt slagging off the rate either, he just sounded curious, so I replied with what I consider the facts about the average rate at that time.

I just wish people would read the posting properly before ranting off.

I think thats a great rate for Manchester thisday.
