My plan of using the External Joiner (33.7mm) to join 33mm aluminium tubes end to end, didn’t work - the joiners are too short and not as tight fitting as I expected, therefore they slope towards the join in the middle.

I’m trying to create straight 5.5 metre tubes, by joining 2 shorter lengths together. They need to be portable as light as possible, but I don’t have a large vehicle, so joining them is my only option. However I’m not sure this is going to be possible.

This is for mounting small overhead speakers. Combined weight each tube needs to support is less than 15kg. I have wind-up lighting stands to support the Scaff poles, but I’m trying to avoid buying stage truss as it’s heavy and expensive.

Does anyone have any pointers on the best way to achieve this? I’ve had a look online for longer external and internal joiner clamps, but it doesn’t look like there is anything suitable out there for the 33mm tubes.

I guess using a 1m brace across the middle and double coupler clamps might work, but I’m trying to avoid too much weight in the middle.
