i have recently started work for interserve after month or so on the dole and getting sick of looking for work and being told there is none or giving my details and never hearing anything back!!
well after working my week in hand, the following thursday (pay day) came around and a was naturally looking forward to visiting my bank. when i got there my bank was empty as i had apparently not handed my passport, national insuarence card, old wage slip, advanced scaffold card and safety passport in time..........10 days is obviously not enough time to process said information!!
anyway, next week came and i got to the bank excited about my "double bubble" in the bank when i got there. this time my account read £560 and some pennies..........surely a mistake i thought, being 2 weeks wages and me being an advanced scaffolder. so i rang interserve office to point out the obvious error only to be told i've been travelling from middlesbrough to sunderland every day for the royal sum of £10.46 per hour!!!

laugh or cry lads??? what do you think???

£10.46 = Is that not Blue Book Rates or something?

I know Interserve go alot of Industrial works and stuff, maybe they make up the rate with bonuses and such?
Have you asked them about that?

Bit shiit about the first week not being paid though - you'd think that their payroll department would have contacted you to ask you if your working PAYE or CIS or something?

Did they not give you a 'starters form' to fill out either??

they used to be good payers interserve think theve had there day all you seem to here these days is bad reports

did it not accur to you to sort your hourly pay out before you started not wait 2 weeks to find out.
the first thing you ask is what are you on lol

i was just happy to get a start after a month of being stuck in my house. the supervision changed over as i was starting and the new bloke said he didn't know the rates yet and since i was on decent money 12 years ago labouring for the same company, i didn't really expect it to have gone backwards. maybe i'm thick pal............thanks for your help in pointing that out for me.........i thought this forum was for helping lads, not mocking them.......silly me eh??

no its not made up with any bonuses and after the (emergency) taxman gets his cut you pick up around £280

Dont think hes mocking you stub just the majority times you grt a tasrt it usually one of the first things you ask even more so after a week or the guys your working with should have known mate , chin up its a job just now aint it .

Just finished 6 months subbing for Interserve in derby. Their lads were on the same rate but were getting £2 odd an hour bonus + a couple of hours travel time a day to bump the money up. They pay the same rate for part 2 & advanced. We were on better rates as subcontractors £13.50 ph.
Personally I'd never start a job without discussing the pay scale & hours first.

If its the Newcastle branch tell them you want the same rate as Eric / peach / John there all getting a rate above everyone else. Ask the qs hedge what the price is on the job as they will be trying to keep money back off each job to cover jobs that are running at a loss

THAT'S WHAT ALL FIRMS DO HOLD MONEY BACK OFF THE LADS TO COVER BAD JOBS.

IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS ALWAYS WILL

Its not to cover bad jobs TEESIDE its to cover inclement weather, if its a bad job then its a bad job and no amount of holding money back will change it round, plus you always learn by your mistakes so if your responsible for the so called bad job you wont make the same mistake again

Christmas 2008 was the last bonus i had and we did`nt have a do and not had one since [times are tight] LOL

i did ask mate but the new supervisor blagged us saying he didn't know any rates coz he was finding his feet. they give us a sheet with all the measure prices on but they've never paid us that either.
