Hi chaps, hired a bit of extra tube the other week as didnt have the funds to buy at the time. Think we are paying 2p a ft for 28days. Just wondered if many of you guys hire and what kind of rate you are getting? Lol and if its better than what im paying who are you hiring from!

Who you using ? When u hire u usually end up buying anyway !

Using Gilray Plant Hire at the mo. I know what you mean, probably end up with us buying it! I'll be interested to see what they want for it now its all second hand.

Ha im sure the charge up will be the new value !
To be honest didnt think gilray did hire ?

Yeah probably! To be honest there new prices arent aweful 90p per foot plus vat. Some people want £1 a foot on ebay second hand.
Well i dont think they do generally hire but because we said it wasnt going out on site but just to do a few private jobs and it wasnt a huge amount of tube they let us have it. Odd.
Do you think 2p a foot is reasonable? Ive not hired any scaffold before now.

We have some on hire il find out what we are paying i think its .5 of a pence per ft a week

dsl is about 2p aft p/week min of 4 weeks, hireing gear is ok if it is all on the same job and then going back after it comes off the job. had some on hire last year worked it out by the time we found all the gear we hired we may as well of bought it.

Depending on the length and value of contract in the early years we hired just to satisfy customer demand and then bought the last return load at a reasonable rate. Worked well at that time but as already noted they all want nearly new price for second hand.

always hiring from generations out of frimley as they do good rates...what you have to remember though when u hire its 100% deductable straight away but when buying ,goes on the balance sheets as an assest and so isonly deductable as a% over a period ... also keeps the cash flow going in these lean times

sorry to hijack, but here goes

we hire, and the one thing that it does it highlight what YOUR material is exposed too on site.

tube being cut
boards being used as ramps
fittings being dropped and left where they fall
theft
the list is endless

as with most scaffold companies there isnt a counting out and back procedure as there is with hire co's, so you could be losing kit daily, all hire does is highlight that.
