Hello lads , am new to the forum. My names Sam Hughes I've just left the Royal Marines after 13 great years . I am really keen to get a start in the industry but don't know where to start or what tickets I need. Am I too old at 33. I've attempted to join cape plc s adult apprenticeship scheme but I am still waiting with my fingers crossed . If that doesn't happen should I start ringing around the companies and asking if they need a apprentice? Any advice would be much appreciated .(am based in the North West)

Welcome to the forum fella

good luck on job search
advice will be forthcoming from members once they have logged on and their senses are fully functional

First phone local firms and see if they will take you on as a labourer. At least it would be a start. Explain that you wish to take up acaffolding as a career . Being ex- forces would be a benefit as they will know you are physically fit and thats a bonus. Also have you done the basic tpuch screen yet? Having that would also benefit as it entitles you to get pn a major site.

Good luck.

No that's really good advice , I obviously need the ticket to get on sites , so I need to get on to that straight away. Thanks much appreciated .

Welcome to the forum Sam. Good luck with the job search, with your background you will soon be snapped up.

Well done on your previous career and welcome, did you get your hgv whilst in the forces?always a bonus if you have, also in wales there's no age restriction on apprenticeships but you'd need to check your area,if you have your hgv then I could possibly give you a number and you'd more than likely get a start, the jobs in chester but at least it's in the north west, which incidently covers a large area, and your foots in the door, and don't thank me,it's the least any of us could do for a returning hero, good luck;)

I did actually , I've got the lot . You mean get me a start in the industry?
