Never worked away before so don't really know what's cheap.

Err yeh by manor park station I think we need
 
all right mate, i worked in london for quite a few years and i wouldnt worry about getting digs in a specific area,if your in north london you can look at kings cross, camden,angel,highbury,manor house,etc the tube system is that good you can nip around north london in minutes, good luck
