Our client has been established for over 40 years expanding operations throughout the UK which means it now trades from over 50 strategically located operations. Its Contract Scaffolding Division is recognised as one of the UK's major suppliers of Scaffolding Services operating from locations in the north of Scotland to the south of England.
Overall Purpose
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the prime responsibilities of the Contracts Manager are to manage several scaffolding contracts to ensure that the resources are controlled and that the work is carried out profitably, to programme and in accordance with current codes of practice, company safety policies and specified designs.
Responsibilities of the Contracts Manager
• To estimate using estimating practices in accordance with Company policy.
• To be active in developing clients to gain follow on contracts.
• To manage labour levels and work output to suit the site programme ensuring satisfactory completion.
• To ensure that labour costs are in accordance with approved estimates.
• To manage the workforce in relation to recruitment, absence, discipline, termination and terms & conditions relating to Company policy and procedure.
• To ensure a competent workforce through ongoing skills assessment and training systems to comply with company requirements and industry standards.
• To ensure that the company fulfils customer requirements, contractual obligations, obtains payment, maintains employee relations and safety and quality standards by ensuring all necessary information is explained to the chargehand on commencement of each contract and through effective communication with colleagues.
• To advise the yard of material and transport requirements for each contract as determined by the approved estimate and progress of work.
• To ensure that contract costs are controlled, wages are paid in line with targets and customers receive charges for services by raising all relevant documentation for each contract accurately and at the appropriate time by complying with the CMS.
• To protect the company’s assets and keep site losses to an absolute minimum by ensuring that all materials surplus to the requirements of each contract are returned to the branch as soon as possible and that sites are cleared of equipment on contract completion.
• To provide and maintain safe conditions within all contracts through compliance with the Company SHEQ policy through specific awareness of their own responsibilities within the company safety manual.
• To ensure that all employees are provided with suitable information, instructions, training and above all supervision to ensure their Health & Safety at work.
• To improve the safe working practices on each contract through tool box talks to coach scaffolders.
