Just stopped by the shopping mall to get some cheap fags as off to Australia for a few days and noticed this gem.
Basically it looks like 8mm steel bar welded into frames. Supported from needles which I presume are tied behind the parapet wall. Frames go down about 12 metres. Some sort of decking thrown about here and there.
Not the best photo but not good wifi in this provincial airport.

When in OZ ensure you discard tab ends safely theyve had enough house & bush fires lately.

I've done many droppers in my time, but it would be the only time id need a toilet bresk if someone asked me to strip that..

They weld it all together on the ground and pull each ladder section up on a rope and wheel. The hooks go over each section and over the needles which are spurred sort of!
Still as long as the job gets done, nobody gets hurt and everyone makes some money happy days.
