Sorry teeside,
Not aimed at you

I think this post by TEESSIDE is a good post..
I no money is bad but who ever gets this job
Will be a trades man at the end of it...
And earn more money than most....

Keep up the good posts TEESSIDE.

Still the way things are ATM there bad for chances to get into our game I agree the money sucks big time when I was trainee 12 years ago I got £210 aweek but if they use there heads take the money then when these hard times are over they should be basic maybe advance jump to a high payed job...
I'm sorry to say but it's a bit of a catch 22 system.

If he were a 16 year old, £100 is better than on the dole and lying in the bed half the day. His money would go up as he learns and as Midge pointed out, it's a chance for him to get his tickets and have a skill when the good times come again. The ones that just want to do nothing will still no nothing when work kicks off again.

Great opportunity for a young lad... moaning about the pay is narrow minded, once they are qualified they can start earning...

I don't think anyone is really moaning deb somtimes I think we forget how much we got when starting out and how much we can earn now but you right it is a great opportunity
For a young lad and yes it's hard work for £100
But I like to think it's character building.

would have to agree with rotherham lee 100 takeing the p!ss i know there paying for hes course but come on 7 or 8 pound an hour wouldnt brake the bank

If you think about it dico on an apprentership young lads only get £50 to £80
a week that's all my daughter gets on her apprentership, and no she's not gonna be a Scaff lol
But it's a job that get you a trade in these hard times....
it could only be a small firm ? That can only afford £100 a week...
Maybe he might give a bit more if it turns out there a good lad who knows ? ....

he will get training and his cards.. its easier chasing money and no training, but his CISRS cards are what he's after, then he can earn. look at the bigger picture...

would have to agree with rotherham lee 100 takeing the p!ss i know there paying for hes course but come on 7 or 8 pound an hour wouldnt brake the bank

Even the poxy national minimum wage would double the the £2.50 per hour on offer here. good opportunity for a young lad, but not much financial incentive, I bet the £100 is gross before deductions???

yes they are a small outfit but that in my opinion is taking the p1ss, i can see the point about time served and all that, however £200 would not break the bank and if they register with the citb they get about (dont quote me) 7k per year for an apprentice.
My son is currently doing his apprenticeship and he works as hard as others on £7.50 an hour, he is on £200 which i think is fair for his age, but £100 thats like the old YTS not an apprenticeship

The wages may seem 5hite to start with, but a lad with a good attitude and work ethic will show hes worth more than this after a couple of months,a decent firm will realise this and pay him more hopefully, would rather have a raw 16yr old working with me than some halfwit in his 20s who thinks he knows it all as soon as they start..

I think most firms are trying there luck on pay
They no they can get away with it...
But its a job for a young lad and like I keep saying it gets
The lad his trade in the hard times in finding work..
It's still alot of money to a 16 year from 5 quid pocket money lol

We have one and he on 95 a week !!!!! But he gets extras !!!

the grant from the citb apprenticship scheme doesnt give you fcuk all for the company , its 100% spent on the apprentice, probably why apprenticships arent available as much now because all the small firms who spend 2 t 4 years training them , then watch them going after the dollar with bigger firms, left out of pocket and a man down .

£100 an apprenticeship

this is goverment funded apprenticeship

the firm donn,t pay anything

it,s the the same deal as all trades apprenticeships

but if hes a good lad and i know some firms that give the lads a bonus on top
