Trying to give lads which want work the chance to.
If u don't want a job , don't comment. Obviously you two are that confident you have job security that you can turn down work. In this climate, nothing is certain.
Jokers

Or maybe employers should stop using "the current climate" as an excuse to drive down wages when the cost of living is spiraling.
Just a thought.

Not a bad thought dazzo but what you have to remember is the price a company gets for a job is approx 30% less than 5 years ago. The company's cannot take that hit. So please, don't think exploitation is the aim here. Its to give people work. Nothing more, nothing less

Which is true but smaller companies like my own have to put more competitive prices in than the larger firms.
The funny thing is, I seem to be getting slated for trying to give people the opportunity to get back into work. I have my 'a' card which I have had for about 8 years but I cannot remember the rates being much better when I was employed.
I have 2 positions left now , if people want to apply then great, if not I will put an add in the job centre

Fair enough but from what I can see, its the going rate. I don't have a gun to anybodys head but the lads who work for us at the moment are more than happy with the wages and other things. Yes we have less overheads but were aspiring to be as big as the national companies either.

Thats the point. Theyre the going rate cause the wages are being driven down by companies and agencies using the recession as an excuse. Im not having a go at you personally pk, it just worries me to see a trade ive been in for 21 years de valued by people who are just out to make a quick buck (again not directed at you more at the agencies tbh)
I understand that a smaller business cannot hope to compete for the same contracts as the nationals but in all honesty the initial outlay to bring a small company up to speed with the big principle contractors are beyond many small companies means anyway. Thats the way ots always been. Horses for courses and all that. But the wage/hours ratio has never been worse for working scaffs ( blue book aside) for as long as i can rember. And with that ill leave your thread alone to fulfill its intended purpose

There the going rates for paye but NOT self employed jeez own equipment, own ppe no holidays take that off my part 2 95 a day and its not worth it full time maybe
