Grey Book staff receive pay increase of 1%

The Employees’ Side of the NJC submitted a pay claim of 3.5% which reflected the inflation increase within the Retail Price Index (RPI).
Joint discussion then took place between both sides of the NJC which produced a process of consultation with FBU members around whether a revised offer would be acceptable.
In providing the offer the Employers’ were mindful of the fact that the employee pension contributions had increased by 0.6% in April 2012, something that was not the case for other local authority staff.
The pay award will be applied with effect from 01 July 2012, the increase will not be applied to the Continuous Professional Development payments or to allowances agreed at national level.
In addition as the Employers’ side of the NJC believe mileage rates are too high, a joint review regarding future rates will be undertaken. Any revised mileage rates will be implemented on 01 November 2012.
