Hi lads, does anyone know 4 sure if i can work/live in OZ or NZ with a criminal record?? I spent a few months in the big house 6 years ago 4 a minor scrap, since then my life has turned around, i am now married and av a son. I av my advanced ticket, sssts, first aid ticket, scissor lift licence, asbestos awareness and will soon be doing my supervisor course. I'm just hoping my tickets will outway my record and give me a chance.

If you're serious about moving you and your family out to Oz or NZ permanently, then I would suggest you contact an immigration specialist mate.
They'll send you a pack to fill out and then they'll tell you whether they think you'd be eligable or not for the visa you were looking for.
Mate, honestly it's only a form from an immigration consultancy. Will probably take about an hour to fill out.
That's the standard way of starting the process rolling and at least you'll know either way for certain.
Would you ask an immigration expert a question on scaffolding?

hi Millsy. if u wanna goggle or similar,u can do an on-line assessment form & they usually tell u straight away or can call u back in about 24/48 hours. try global visa or there will be a few that come up,with a search. usually free the on-line bit. hope this helps.
yea wife done that the other day just waiting 4 call back, being the bank holiday did'nt expect a call untill 2mz or wed'. alot ov lads on ere seem 2 av been out there 4 wrk and most scafffs i know av some sort ov criminal record so i was just hoping someone on the forum or someone they know has tried going out there
My brother got Australian citizenship about 5 years ago and he has some minor criminal convictions.
I got a sponsorship visa about 10 years ago no problem, after some unfortunate brushes with the law in my teenage years.
It all depends mate.
On a slightly different note. I flew to Oz about a month ago for a couple of the Ashes tests, with 2 mates.
It's the only time I've ever flown into Oz where they haven't had any sniffer dogs at customs or at the baggage carousel.
We got waved through customs (another first) and 2 days later my mate found 2 wraps of the white stuff in his wallet - he totally didn't know it was there and must have forgot all about it after a bender one night.
Lucky, lucky fukcer! Even luckier he didn't get caught whilst going through Singapore in transit! :laugh:

Cautions last 5 years, prison term, I think is the same, although you have to apply for a certificate to say its classed as " spent " best thing like said on here is ask an expert, don't lie or your fucked, you should be ok, as long as the other criteria are met, ie. medicals, and you need to score points ( you do this on the online test ) do one online, you get the result straight back, just put ( immigration Australia, or NZ )

Have been through the process of immagration and your are asked about any criminal past in the immagration forms but have a few mates here in New Zealand that have made the change to New Zealand from the Uk like myself and they have had a crininal pasts and they are here so i would say that every case is different so give it a go mate as its only a phonecall to New Zealand immagration in London and they will tell you either way .
