So what you all hoping for this festive season?

Dont be shy:nuts::nuts::nuts:......

Ha ha ha the obvious answer there Garry. Is there only you and I alive at the moment haha

Weaver…aye, the Forum will heat up soon…and whats the script with this Overseas Ticketed Scaff being allowed to work in Europe…have you heard anything ???

LA LA LA The only thing I want for Christmas is my two front teeth PMSL...

No Garry not hesrd anything. Please enlighten me on this, What have you heard and where from?

Weaver…have a butchers of Post " looking for a new year Training Bargain…5 th post down…I told you the Forum would heat up very soon…whats your thoughts Bro ???

Are you refering to Simian training foreign labour in foreign countries???

Weaver…I am awaiting further information on this one, however, with the information available…Overseas CISRS Ticketed Scaffolders gain a European Recognised Qualification, recent Regulations would allow them to work in Europe ( We are part of Europe )…this is worth researching deeper me thinks ???

Will agree that research is the way forward Garry as facts are always the winner. BUT...............on previous experiences...................I know for a fact that in The Netherlands they can obtain an Advanced Scaffold qualification in 3 yes i said 3 days!!!!!!!!!!! At that time,(2/3 yrs ago) this qualification was not recognised in the UK.
I worked with 2 lads from Poland on an istallation in the Dutch Sector, had been offshore for 5 yrs and only been scaffolding for 5 yrs. 1 of them told me the only reson he could not get the supervisors ticket was that his level of English was not good. So issued with his 3 day Advanced Scaffold qualification he took off offshore. This storey continues hope your settled in my friend..................

......................One morning we were in the control room and were due to commence with a hanging scaffold off the 5 metre level walk way. Very close to the sea would you agree?? Yes i thought so myself. First off, compancy procedures:

1, No outboard work if the wind speed is 22 knots or above,
2, No work to proceed above 2m with wind speeds 22 knots or above,
3, No outboard work to commence in the sea state is 2.5m or above.

Right back to the tale, i was approsched by the "chargehand", (a term i use very loosly indeed), with the outboard permit to sign. I said NO, to a look of shere horror. I was then asked why, I firmly replied with, the sea state is 3m+ and the wind is blowing at 28 knots gusting to 31 knots.

I had a barrage of you need to sign this and the English man does not want to work. The Supervisor at the time was on his way around 5 satelites on his tagging duty. They called him back early to settle this dispute. I know this supervisor of old. He backed me all the way, as he knew i too was a supervisor for the company in question. They didnt speak to me for 10 days out of a 14 day trip. Apart from we need this job, our families need this job and your just going to get us NRB'd.

I will stand my ground all day with safety out here mate if I am right. As im sure you would. I had a full apology off the control room once they knew the FACTS. But, summing up old pal, if this is the quality that we will get from europe it is frightening and scarey. AND, I personally think we could do with out this, this country has enough to sort out.................

Weaver…the thread intimates that it will be Asian Workers not Europeans…

Over the side work: aye, when it was necessary to prove my point…I used to fire a short board over the side and ask the standby vessel to retrieve it…if they came back and said, we cannot launch because of the sea state, if they can't retrieve a board then they can't retrieve a Scaff…end of...

Weaver are we the only ones on this post…

HELLO out there…any one got and info on this one ???

Not really, but it sounds questionable at best.

Im having a permanent prezzie tommorow.......my h4h tattoo on my back....and she whi must be obeyed is paying for it.

As I understand it Garry only the qualification would be recognised and holders deemed competent and trained. Any right to work in the UK would still be under control of the Border Agencies.
I guess foreign doctors are allowed to work in the UK with qualifications gained overseas so the powers that be would have to allow scaffolders as long as they have the right visa.
